8-3 and a Big South Championship!! If the young guys gel and the team can avoid key injuries, then 9-2.

I wish there was an edit button in here. 6-5 or 7-4, oops I found the edit button, only too late.

Anything less than 8-3 would be a disappointment considering how weak our schedule is this year. How we compete vs Wake Forest, William and Mary, W Carolina, Coastal, and Towson will determine our progress. I am predicting 8-3 with losses to Wake, William and Mary, and either Towson or W Carolina (Would be nice to win either of these).

I would set the over-under at 6 wins. Yes, it is a weak schedule, but let's not forget we are looked at by other schools as being a weak team as well (I refer you to last year's record). A winning season would get the new era off to a good start.

I think we can win 7. Last year we lost 5 of our last 7 by less than 7 points and we play many of those teams again. This time we have a better coach with a lot to prove. I think we do well against those who matter and make gains against teams like W&M and Towson. If they can get the fans behind them early in the year that would work wonders as well. I am lookinf forward to a good year.

If we can bring back some of the same level of excitement, future expectations, and fan support that Morgan Hout brought us back in the late 80's then it would be a job "well done" by Coach Rocco.

I don't see how you get off saying that statement. Conference games, aside from Coastal, should be wins. William & Mary and Western probably aren't wins. Towson's a possible. Wake's not. I'm saying 6-5 or 7-4 with losses to Western, William and Mary, Wake, and either Towson or Coastal.

Playing teams like Chuck South, Savanah State, Glenville, St Pauls, And Gardner Webb is not exacting projecting strength. But I guess I understand why we are doing this.

i realize that this is a different year, but i'm not sure i'd be taking shots at teams like gw and chuck south considering they both beat you just a year ago. even though lu should be much improved, don't forget where ya came from! but anyways, i do look for lu to go at least 6-5....or perhaps better....this year.

7 wins isn't inconceivable. Everybody is much improved and we should have battles across the board. Im thinking 7-4 with 8=3 a real possibility (I mean we could be looking at 3-1 after Savannah State and if we upset Towson, 4-0)

Anybody else remember the 4 page argument we had back in APRIL over this subject?

http://flamefans.com/viewtopic.php?t=560

and I'm sticking with my original projection of 8-3.

We go 8-3, losing only to Towson, Wake and a let-down at the hands of Western Carolina.

They key is exactly what SLY said: we could've had 4 more wins last year- if not more. That young team beat itself more often than not- I saw it first hand.

Maturity + coaching + nice signings = LU being VERY TOUGH in-conference this year.

EDIT: reading this, I'm scared by how much I agree w/ SLY
SJ is consistently pessamistic :D but I think we are going to ROLL CCU this year. Sorry Chants. You're overrated

a prediction thread seems to start every other week, but i think SJ is on target for the most part. we will lose to W&M, wake, one conference game and a coin flip with western or towson to go 7-4 and 3-1 in the big south, with a tie for the conference title.

Not pessamistic, more realistic than anything. I know football is the one game above all where you have to learn to win games. That's the one thing the team couldn't do last year, as evidenced by the amount of close game losses. You'll call me a Coastal homer but they have 30-some odd seniors this year and haven't lost a game at home since Week 3 of 2004. They have experience, we have coaching and youth. (Yes, I just said Rocco was better than Bennett. Bennett can recruit and motivate, but as far as flat out coaching, ask his former players). I think we can play them tough but Thig to Jerome in the 4th quarter is almost unstoppable. 2007 is the year will be the year Coastal can/will be beaten.

one thing i think everyone can agree on....the big south as a whole will be much improved. and personally, i wouldn't mind if liberty goes 10-1....as long as the 1 is in conway.

No disrespect but didn't we beat you guys 38-17 last year at your place. We have 16 returning starters and continue to stock pile scholarships players. I like your programs future but you still have a majority of the same players. Good luck, but I do not think this one, in towson, is going to be any closer than last years game. I realy enjoy reading the post.

Thanks for joining us, tiger times. Its good to see a Towson fan find his way down here. Why not go ahead and register and drop by regularly?

I think you'll notice that most of us believe that Towson is a game that should be tough for us. I believe mosrt of us want to think that last fall was an aberration in general. Both of our teams have a strong core of young talent. But let's be honest, if we can't be optimistic in July, when can we be?

We hope to make up the difference this year with the 3 1A transferes, and a new coach and staff. I know some of the same players that played last year are back leading you to believe that we are bringing back too much of a bad thing (or to you it would be a good thing) but we had numerous freshmen come in and start when they should have either redshirted or sat the bench. Hopefully that experience would benefit them this year. Our senior class last year was I believe our worst ever so no significant losses there with the exception of our punter and 1 of our safties. Hopefully the new coach can better prepare them for game situations and get the pieces in order to do the job right but thanks for your input tiger times.

i'm still wondering why there was a "welcome wagon" to a towson tigers (defected from the big south years ago) fan and not to a ccu fan who happens to live just down the road from lynchburg (lifelong virginian)!!! only kidding of course...
