We have a chance to play more FBS schools which could develop the skills/mentality of players plus recruiting, but we will take more FCS for some easy wins in the name of getting a bowl game(which may not happen)? That'll definitely give us respect for sure  .

You want to add more on top of 3 P5 now - But I am a nut job for saying In 2027 we max out P5 scheduling 2-3 years after announcing, budgeting and recruiting for it...👍

Not many options for some dates. Here are some.

Sep 12 - Coastal Carolina, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Cincy, Rice, East Carolina, Kansas, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Georgia State, Troy, USF, Houston, Baylor

Oct 3 - BYU, UTEP

Nov 14 - Kansas State, New Mexico State

Nov 28 - Army, BYU, New Mexico State

Few options outside of Sept 12. I am not counting FCS

I am all for exposure but - we lost 4 games on our schedule we expected to win. We have 4 away L and 3 home toss ups and 1 W based on odds. We are likely to add BYU on top of that. If we add another P5 ( I highly doubt HF signs off on that ) PITT makes a lot of sense based on our recent recruiting and BC makes sense based on mini ND ( feel like we should do an annual with them and BYU ). I would t mind venturing in to BiG 12 country either for Kansas.

How does being the savior to a cash-strapped conference work when the president is on indefinite leave of absence?

I don't think president being on leave, has much, if anything, to do with athletic department.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. Who do you think signs off on the final budgets? Who do you think signs off on the final decision to build facilities? Who was the one who ponied up the 2 mil to extend Hugh Freeze? Who made the decision to offer conference USA 20 million? If Jerry Jr does not return, you all better hope that we find another president who cares as much about athletics as Jerry does. The man isn’t perfect, no one is. But there is absolutely no debate on what he did for Liberty athletics over the past 10 years. Doc’s vision included athletics. Jerry took over that vision. There is no guarantee that our next president would have the same excitement about athletics at the Falwells did. Hopefully the board includes athletics as part of their search, hopefully they will hire somebody that guarantees that athletics won’t be left behind. We need to hope and pray for that, because over the past 10 years there’s not a single university president in the country they did more for their athletic department than Jerry did for us.

Agree 100% and posted that exact sentiment a couple days ago. Most posters appeared to say that it was already cast to continue due to facilities but thats not all of it. It will cost big time $ to retain coaches in our top 5 sports i firmly believe.

Presidents make the final call and he seems to not to care by offending them by calling them all kind of names. He can offer all the money in the world, they’ll still avoid Liberty and his politics.

Don’t get it twisted he can care less about the other sports. He’s a football guy. How many basketball games did he attend? And that’s our best team as of now.

Only way we get into a conference and be very successful is to have a apolitical president. He doesn’t seem to care running off athletes and losing potential recruits with his crap.

I don't think that's fully true. Our mission alone will make presidents want nothing with us , since a few(if not the majority) don't think we are a proper academic school in the first place. We teach psuedo-science remember? Thats why I think we should play good games this season since we may likely stay independent for a while. Also i dont think our basketball team is the best team on campus. Yes theyre good and hopingvthey get better every season, but football will always be king which isn't such a bad thing financially speaking. If Jerry didnt care about basketball, we wouldn't have a great coach still here or an arena that was most likely in his liking. Jerry is not the only president whi doesnt attend baskeyball games; people have preferences  .

I went to 5 or 6 games this past year and he was at most of the games I went to. I would say 4 of 6. Thats a weak argument to me. If were judging by attendance then most every secular president cares about nothing but fball and mbb if your a mbb school.

Coaches want to be paid, be able to hire top assts and retain them and facilities. Its inarguable that he's provided all 3 for just about every sport.

As I said before plenty of things to criticize. Sports and real estate other than the Miami thing is just not there.

A lot of the board is very familiar with Doc's vision for sports. If they move on from Jr i cant imagine sports not being a big part of the discussion. Sports alone should not be a reason Jr stays on.

Regardless this is more appropriate for the ongoing Jerry thread.

A lot of moving parts right now for the 2020 football season but it looks like those schools/conferences that are committed to play will play. I hope we get more clarity with our schedule in the coming days. Not a boring time for Ian and his staff to say the least.

My response had nothing to do with conference affiliation - I used CUSA 20 mil as an example of commitment to athletics. Caring about sports does not always = going to games. You talk about basketball - what did he do for basketball over the past 6 years? Underground practice facility? Extend McKay? New basketball arena “just for the heck of it” and so on and so forth. Those decisions did more for our basketball success than going to games. Going to games? Ha! More like.... “SHOW ME THE MONEY!!”

“He’s a football guy”

Sure - but he also built a 32 million dollar indoor track that’s a top-3 facility in the country - because - you know - 32 mil is pennies for a non-revenue Olympic sport? And the list goes on and on. 20 Million for a pool and we don’t even have a men’s team - 20 million for a pool for a non-revenue women’s sport. That is unheard of in college athletics. Field Hockey and LAX already with upgrades since they built brand new facilities for them 10 years ago. Baseball, softball, all with top-10 if not better facilities in the country and what have you.

Do you think Tolsma cared one bit about how many indoor track meets Jerry attended? Or recruits cared? Or student-athletes cared? Signing off on a 32 mil track and building it - getting it done - what’s that worth in terms of “game attendance?”

I’ll say it again. As Flames Fans we better hope the board tells the next President outright that the athletic support will absolutely continue. We’ve come too far and have had too much good happen to stop now.

So, considering the reality that it is HIGHLY unlikely governor blackface will be allowing full stadiums, how do they decide who gets in?

NMSU pulled the plug. Leaves an opening for UAB 9/5 ( no thanks ) and Texas State 10/3. Neither very attractive but the list is dwindling pretty quick.

Football

If Spring sports are played this school year, that might change, (if you know what I mean).

No thanks. I'd rather play a real school Study that actually went to a BOWL GAME last year--like Marshall. :football

With New Mexico State out I think BYU and Army desperately need our help. I think we need theirs for Oct 3 and Nov 28. Both would give us shot at TV exposure.
