Not ridiculous if you are an AD or President - very ridiculous if you are a coach and a player.

Bowling Green came canceled as MAC is not playing.

We need to be on the phone with Old Dominion, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, and App. State pronto. We could lose both FCS games and now Bowling Green. Army is a potential replacement on October 3rd, plus playing Army usually gets you on TV.

at this point I think getting a 12 game season will be a big win for us. It can happen for sure and I wouldn't mind playing NMSU and whoever.

Well, I'd play New Mexico State if we needed a game, but Old Dominion, Coastal Carolina, Army, Charlotte, Temple, and East Carolina are much better options, especially if we want to limit travel.

At this stage, pulling off a 10-game schedule would be a coup. The only thing pushing up these decisions like the MAC is training camps about to begin. If they practice it creates eligibility issues for athletes.

As for NM State, the odds they play any games at all this fall is growing slimmer by the day. Tough to justify the costs under these circumstances with no guarantees or ticket revenue.

Spring football is looking much more likely now for G5 leagues. The NCAA has remained silent on the issue giving leagues both more flexibility to make the call all the way up until September.

Lest we forget, the governor of New Mexico has asked both UNM and NMST to not play this fall. I'll be shocked if we play them, even more shocked if they come to Lynchburg. Navy lost its game with Notre Dame, and FCS is officially having football playoffs in the spring (so Western Carolina will be gone).

And quite honestly, I don't see the Mountain West being able to play this fall either. The Cal State system (which includes Fresno State, San Diego State, and San Jose State) earlier announced plans for a virtual environment this fall, and if UNM acquiesces to the New Mexico governor's request, well...

The rumor mill is in full churn this afternoon that all of FBS may wind up shutting down with conferences dropping one by one this weekend. B1G just told teams not to put on pads in training camps until they make further decisions about the season as there are emergency conference calls underway with numerous leagues today.

Just when things were looking up with the ACC news, we lose our 3rd game of the season.

LIBERTY LOSES 3RD GAME OF 2020 SEASON AS MAC MOVES SEASON TO SPRING

Liberty was scheduled to play one member of the MAC this season, traveling to Bowling Green on Oct. 3 in the first game of the home-and-home series. The Falcons are scheduled to make the return trip to Lynchburg on Sept. 2, 2023.

If they're wrong this is interesting. ESPN ... Western Michigan's Sept. 19 trip to Notre Dame is off, ND must now must find another non-league opponent, with Navy and Arkansas both off the schedule.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. The PAC-12 is having issues with multiple players not wanting to play, and with everything else happening, I'd be shocked if we have any Division I competition this fall, in any sport.

With LU testing in place and already playing 3 acc teams might we be a best choice for ND?

This discussion may very quickly turn into a Spring 2021 season discussion. There are a lot of moving parts right now but appears we will soon get some announcements from other P5 conferences making it more difficult to have a fall season.

I guess time will tell. Originally I thought the fall 2020 season was wishful thinking. Then I started to convince myself otherwise, then the ACC made their announcement and I felt even more confident. Now today there is a ton of smoke indicating a fall season won't happen. I guess we just have to wait and see.

NBA, Golf, NHL, MLB are off and running and honestly things are going well in regards to COVID. MLB is the only one who has had any kind of small issue with COVID and that is on the players not the MLB. I know these are all professional sports and we are talking about college but the reality is we can have the season and should have the season. COVID-19 is nothing more than a more serious flu virus. You and I have a better chance of getting hit by a car than dying of it. That last statement was posted by some sweedish medical research on the world-wide pandemic. They also posted that the mortality rate is actually .1 to .3 percent.

H1N1 was more serious than this with more cases and people being sick than Covid-SARS2. Business is business though and people will follow suit just to save their own skins. It is what it is.
