and now the undefeated teams in conferences that matter are down to 5. Us, New Hampshire, Montana, Lafayette, and San Diego. SDU will go undefeated most likeley but they are in a terrible conference and sacred heart loses in their next two games. Montana barely beat a DII school this past week. oh and of those 5 teams only UNH and Montana are ranked besides us. If lafayette beats Harvard this week they are ranked. i'm calling it. and they go undefeated until they play us.

Probably a safe bet since they have Columbia after that. They will not face a team that is as physical as we are all season. I have a feeling we will make it a statement game. Their schedule is weak!

They beat penn pretty bad. Penn played NOVA to OT and were a fumble away from winning the game. Nova just beat richmond this week. Penn is not a bad team. Lafayette could very well pose a challenge if we go in to this game looking forward to elon.

That's the exact thing we can't do. We can't look past any team we play. Every team we play could beat us. But if we are well prepared and we show up to each game, then we should be undefeated going into Elon.

Appy St #116
LU #123
ELON #141
YSU #159
Coastal #157
Lafayette #160
WCU #189
VMI #193

Also, here are some of the BCS point Totals and the BCS Rank

JMU 68.54 or # 82 (only 11 ahead of us)
APPY 55.91 or #91
LU 64.69 or #93
ELON 56.67 or #136
YSU 55.09 or #143
LAF 52.28 or #154
WCU 48.42 or #172
CCU 48.17 or # 174 (OUCH)
VMI 35.90 or 215 (WOAH)

I Could spout on about several points I could make from these numbers, but I'm much more interested to hear what some of you folks who are much more informed than I have to say!

Numbers don't translate to points on the board. Bottom line if we come out over confident, any team on the rest of our schedule could beat us. Must stay focused.

My point had more to do with the lack of respect the Big south gets in the regular polls. Look at Elon sitting way ahead of us in the polls, and yet the rankings show thay have played much less difficult teams and are ranked lower. Southern gets more respect from both coaches and writers, but is in reality NOT!

Ah yes...the old SoCon vs Big South argument...

...GET FREAKING OVER IT!

The SoCon is home of MULTIPLE I-AA champs and has a long history of success in the playoffs. The Big South has been, what, once to the playoffs and our champ got its doors blown off. The SoCon has earned any hype and respect they get...and in REALITY...they ARE better than the Big South in football.

I agree 100% with your point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EXCEPT- That preconception (Correct one I might add) should not hurt a solitary team that is outperforming their conference!
Also, It's hard to Get Freaking over it, when it is really just a pointless observation meant to start a conversation on what is right now a boring board. However, I will say that the past should not matter as much as the present in these cases either!

The Massey Ratings, one of the computer models used in the BCS, has us as the 85th best team in the country, and 9th best in I-AA.

We come in right above Iowa State and 'Nova.

New Massey ratings are out... we went down a little thanks to our Strength of Schedule taking a few hits over the weekend.

Interesting to note... they have JMU as the 48th best team in the nation.

Elon is 77th, ahead of Arkansas and Purdue.

25 UCLA 2 3 1.176 (104) 1.33 (81) 1.52 (58) 74 P10
23 Texas A&M 2 3 1.175 (105) 1.31 (85) 1.55 (47) 94 B12
-21 Liberty 5 0 1.159 (106) 0.30 (211) 0.46 (195) 144 BSC
-21 Iowa St 2 3 1.158 (107) 1.31 (87) 1.53 (55) 80 B12
19 Appalachian St 3 2 1.150 (108) 0.96 (137) 0.98 (127) 87 SC
14 W Kentucky 2 4 1.132 (109) 1.41 (61) 1.34 (82) 121 IA Ind

Just an idea of the teams around us in the poll. We have the 195th toughest schedule in the nation, accoring to this poll.

New Sagarin Rankings, as well...

118 Delaware AA = 60.87 2 3 64.40( 102) 0 0 | 0 0 | 61.41 107 | 63.80 97
119 Florida Atlantic A = 60.87 1 4 75.79( 5) 0 1 | 0 2 | 58.72 118 | 60.53 113
120 Elon AA = 60.56 5 1 51.71( 175) 0 0 | 0 0 | 68.92 72 | 58.98 122
121 Syracuse A = 59.99 1 4 72.56( 17) 0 1 | 0 2 | 60.34 114 | 58.89 123
122 Southern Illinois AA = 59.33 2 2 62.37( 115) 0 0 | 0 1 | 58.32 122 | 55.53 140
123 Toledo A = 59.29 1 4 70.20( 41) 0 0 | 0 1 | 55.64 134 | 59.09 121
124 Utah State A = 59.09 1 4 71.82( 25) 0 0 | 0 3 | 58.54 120 | 57.43 131
125 Western Illinois AA = 58.93 3 2 56.64( 155) 0 0 | 0 0 | 55.28 138 | 61.16 108
126 Liberty AA = 58.80 5 0 50.04( 187) 0 0 | 0 0 | 70.21 66 | 53.68 149
127 Tulane A = 58.17 2 3 62.65( 112) 0 1 | 0 1 | 50.80 158 | 59.67 119
128 San Diego State A = 57.96 1 4 68.29( 64) 0 0 | 0 1 | 54.30 143 | 58.62 124

I have put a bold over the ELO CHESS rating, this is a system that Sagarin has that does not factor in point differential, it just looks at win or loss, and is the poll used in the BCS calculations. We are ranked 66th in the nation in that version of the poll.
