The building's not even finished and already the doors leak!!!

Sorry, that was for qkslvrsrfrboy's benefit.

For those of us too far away to drop by campus, your photos have been priceless, Libertine. I know you're doing all you can, so this isn't meant to be a complaint at all: can we get some photo updates on the Ops ctr? I understand they're pushing hard to get most of the building ready by 8/31.

I was told earlier today that a lot of the interior projects have been sitting for weeks now. What's the story?

So I heard, SCAR. Isn't there carpet down in some areas? Any progress at all in the weight room? Landscaping?

Looks like the new guy can't put in one of those fancy quote boxes. Oh well.

newflame ... the weight room will be the last thing that will be done. It won't be functional until January 2007 at the earliest. They're trying to get the coaches offices/locker rooms/training room/video areas done ASAP so the players and staff can work out of it.

I am sure there is a lot of improvement and progress from the last time Libertine took pix. My only point was that you guys get the gist from what he has posted. There is still a whole lot to be done but they have so many folks working on that building and the field for that matter that I think they should be able to make it functional near opening night. There will be a lot of work left to be done but they can get it to be pretty usable but still have a lot done during off hours sort of like Thomas Road was.

Is that little circular hole being dug out in front for a fountain or a bank of flowers?

I asked that a while back and nobody answered. I dont think they know. My guess is fountain.

I would guess a fountain too, but then again the one in the courtyard is dry for a reason...

see some progress on the exterior in the pix of the field, but no new shots of the inside of the bldg, or my private viewing area
(the roof)

anybody got anything to share?

FWIW, I'm told the circular area behind the foc is a patio area, intended primarily to be an area where friends and family of the team can wait for the team to exit after games.

random thought here- and the question may have been answered previously, but its late and I'm getting old.

Is there an area for press in the new ops ctr? specifically, press conferences?

The academic center on the second floor will double as the press conference room on gamedays and on Tuesdays. We'll still work out of the press box in terms of watching the game and filing stories, but the new setup should be much more friendly than the previous one. They had us stashed at the back of the athletic training room, and getting the opposing coach and players was very difficult (especially during VMI week). Kudos to the SID staff for getting this done.

thanks CHRIS- I figured you had some space there but that sounds like a good arrangement. Not to get off topic here ( that never happens :D ) but I hope they expand the pressbox someday.

Judging by other stadiums, ours appears quite small. (no phalic envy here, just making an observation)

I've been in much worse press boxes than LU's. There's enough space to work and (hopefully) wireless internet this year.

i did swing by and sat and watched practice for a little bit and i was impressed by how the buidling makes it more of a stadium field, its a great touch.....once the program gets bigger and they add some more seats it really will be a nice looking stadium
