While I don't think Rocco will be fired, I won't lose any sleep if he is. We've plateaued. 5 years in a row of being one win short. Rocco has made no significant changes. Considerable offseason hype each and every year. There MUST be some changes made. We are putting too much money and support into this program to be waffling in "above average team in a below average FCS conference."

Another thought I have, Rocco has been here 6 years. If you would have told me after year 1, that we would still not have made the playoffs after year 6, I would have laughed in your face. Well, here we are.

And we didn't hire Rocco to not make the playoffs.

I've never been one to hop on the "Fire Rocco" train, but CLEARLY changes MUST be made. Defense the past couple weeks has been ATROCIOUS!!!! Really?! Squeakers with Peesby and VMI?! Offense has been pretty good, consistently putting up big numbers. Something has GOT to change. I'm not necessarily of the opinion that it should be Rocco, but certainly there are NO excuses for not making the playoffs this year.

It's funny, i really had no doubt that LU was going to lose the game at SB about halfway through. I knew what the end result would be. We've seen it too many times over the past few years and saw it play out over the past two games. There was no way we were going to get it done against a good team when we had so many problems beating mediocre teams lately.

Rocco should get 1 more year, 2 years tops. If he can't get it done then, he's not going to get it done at all. LU has dumped a TON of money into the football program. And let's not forget that HORRID decision to bring back a player that still has FELONY charges pending on him simply so we could try and make the playoffs.

What's been accomplished this year:
1. Lose the Big South - CHECK
2. Miss the playoffs - CHECK
3. Lose to JMU - CHECK
4. Use the hope of winning the 3 above mentioned as an excuse to bring back a player with felony charges pending and soil the name and reputation of the school - CHECK

As a two time alum who remembers going to games at city stadium back in the 80's, I'm quite frankly appalled at the behavior of the athletic dept. in letting an athletic possibility take precedence over the reputation of the school. Quite honestly, we DESERVED to lose yesterday. I'm not saying I'm happy we did, but it was certainly EXACTLY what we deserved to have happen.

If you are going to sacrifice standards for success, it sorta sucks when it doesn't pan out. At least if we had won it would be easier to 'justify'

This goes right along with my opinion that we are suffering from a major IDENTITY CRISIS !!!

If we're gonna loose.....let's loose with good kids.....

If we just wanna win......let's recruit some convicts who can play some ball !!!

I'm cool with being a Christian University that only recruits kids who are pre-disposed to conform to the Liberty Way......If we loose ....at least we can honestly say we have limited recruiting ability....

But since we sont seem to care about our reputation.....sink tons of money into the program...AND STILL LOOSE....WE ARE A JOKE !!!

Even BYU had standards to go to school and play sports! I don't care if the student is a devout Christian. Libertys student leadership is about the ministry of reconciliation. They just need to obey out rules. Not hard for what the schools investing into the program. Now that said, if the school administration doesn't see that Rocco's gone as far as he's going to go they are complete idiots!

My suggestion. Completely re vamp our defense. Forget the expansion on the stadium, but as much money as possible and get those positions filled with a talent defensive coach...

Give Rocco a year. Then replace him! No other words.

I don't think he even deserves another year, but even if he did, nothing is going to happen next year. yes we still have some talent coming back but if anything was going to happen, it was going to be this year. With what SB is bringing back and with what we are losing, Next year doesn't hold much hope. Sure there could be some huge transfers coming in, but if Rocco couldn't get it done with what he had this year, do you really expect different results with less next year?

For all those saying next year will be worse then this year keep in mind athletics can be very counter intuitive. You can actually have addition by subtraction. UT didn't win a national championship until Manning left. UVA went to the Final Four after Ralph Sampson. Having a less talented team with better chemistry can get you places, just ask Butler Boise State, and TCU.
I'm not saying we will have a better team and I don't know the locker room dynamic but it's not difficult to believe that we are losing at least 1 or 2 major locker room distractions this year.
Food for thought.

Does that mean we , The People of the Sun, can hear Tom Joad call our Games on Guerrilla Radio while the Renegades of Funk watch the Bulls on Parade?

Really no one has commented on this yet??? The joke here is your inability to spell 'lose' which means you lost a game, etc and loose which is opposite of tight. Hope this helps...

This thread "It's time for a new coach": is probably the stupidest banner of trash that I have seen waved on this board in a very long time.

Danny Rocco is a good coach. And the Liberty bandwagon riders of this board are welcome to get off at the next stop if any of you think that Coach Rocco should be sent packing after this season and after (agreeably) this weekend's humbling loss against a very good Stony Brook team.

In my humble opinion, to hastily, rashly and foolishly propose to fire Coach Rocco after this season is for Liberty Football to reach a new, much more embarrassing all time low altogether (in this shameful proposal to throw Coach Rocco under the proverbial bus).

Definitely Wagon wheel fans. Plus, I could care less about the Band I don't want to be on their wagon.

I love how people who are most likely students still can come on and tell people they are bandwagon fans and are hastily rushing to a conclusion about Rocco.

Im a second generation Liberty Fan, and its been 6 years.

Im pretty sure I saw this same story on ESPN today about Norv Turner. Great Coach, but can't take the chargers any further.

I am a proud Flames Alumni and Liberty Flames student-athlete.

We all know it's true... the student's leaving the football game each week @ half time are the one's trying to "hook up" and or socialize :D

It's been true @ Liberty since the eons’ of time. This was the case even when I arrived at Liberty as a freshmen in 97" and I don't think that our freshmen class started the tradition.

BTW, maybe the term "bandwagon" that I used is a little overused and stretching it, but you don't fire a good Head Coach just because we go 7-4 (w/ one loss being to NC State; and the other two losses being to ranked opponents by 3 pts a piece). Agreed, losing to Stony Brook is painful. I'll just leave it at that... and hope that in this thread we as Flames Fan's don't mull each other alive over the lose which won't help or change things either.
