I'm nowehre near Lynchburg right now (about 200 miles away), but I remember how bad things were this time of the year (and that was before the crazy enrollment boom). Freshman orientation week and graduation were two times you didn't want to be anywhere near campus.

i agree with you on that 01lugrad about the traffic for graduation and freshie orientation week. those times the traffic is a nightmare.

With all of the construction that goes on at LU, I'd think they would love to get a live web-cam on various parts of campus. Wouldn't it be great for Alumni to see what new projects are going on? Maybe even have a few at the stadium for game days to see people in the stands... etc.

I'd imagine a few dedicated servers and some wire and we'd be okay.

Oh the number of times I've suggested this! Obviously I've had no luck so far. Once in a while you can get a decent shot from the Candlercam but that's about as good as it gets right now.

I've been wondering what was going on there (just found this thread). It looks like real grass from the road, and I was hoping it would be. There's just something about grass that makes the gridiron more real to me. At least it looks good!

I have been wondering something for a while. Is the new OP's building centered with the goalposts? Every picture I have seen makes it look like it is off-center. I'm sure that could just be camera angle, but I was curious.

It's pretty well centered on the post. If you're looking down the tunnel onto the field, the post is directly in your line of sight.

I take it back. I double-checked myself and the building is centered slightly to the left of the post. I mentioned it to JB and he's calling Kodiak to have the whole thing moved over 5 feet.

Glad to hear you've got that kind of power. Another idea would be to shift the whole stadium over a couple of feet. Or, we could move the North goalpost to the left. The NCAA won't have a problem with that, will they?

We could just move the goal posts over or better yet, tell them to move the entire field over five yards while the field is still a blanket.

I'm up in Lexington for VMI media day, and they've got the new SprintTurf down on their practice field behind the stadium. Wow, that stuff is nice. If Liberty's finished product is anywhere near as nice as the VMI stuff (and it's supposed to be much better, actually), the players are going to be very happy. Very springy, soft surface and very fast. Nice stuff.

Some updates:

The rubber has arrived. (In peanut form, apparently)


The field now goes all the way across. They still have to do a little piecework along the edges of the parabola, but the field is 95% laid.

If you look closely, you can see that the numbers are actually being shaved out of the "grass"...

They'll come back in and glue down numbers, hashes and logos on top of the shorn areas.
