I've heard McCabe did not renew his apartment lease in Charlottesville for the next semester. Take that for what it's worth.

I mentioned that to Smoothie on Saturday. I think I may have said the wrong QB though.

maybe he realized how much money he's throwing away in rent and had decided to buy a house. Is he a finance major?

here is mc cabe's bio. i really doubt he will ever see the field again in cville with this 5 star QB prospect peter lalich signing in august. jameel sewell is the hoos QB , and i do not seeing it change. with all of this said, it is true speculation. Will the love of football override a degree from UVA??

I guess he has 2 more years of eligibility left unless he plays this year. Great prospect! I hope that he committs to LU soon since we could probably use some talent at that position. I hope that doesn't adversely affect Vic Hall's decision to come to LU.

from wset.com:

UVA Player Released, May Head to Liberty
Wednesday January 17, 2007 6:49pm Reporter: Dennis Carter

Charlottesville, VA - 13 Sports has learned UVA football offensive guard Marshal Ausberry has gotten his release from the Cavaliers program. Ausberry, a 6-5, 323-pound right guard, played behind Ian-Yates Cunningham this past season after starting 11 games as a sophomore in 2005.

He's reportedly looking to transfer for his final season and one option could be Liberty University. Ausberry's former teammate and fellow lineman Eddie Pinigis transferred to LU last season and started for the Flames.

Wow! I'll take another big O-lineman for a year while we let our freshmen get their legs under them as redshirts.

At least they aren't throwing him under the bus like they did Eddie on The Sabre.

While one doesn't necessarily want to be known as Transfer U. or a little brother program...having big guys like that come in provide at the very least tough practice sessions for the freshman who can cut their collegiate teeth playing in practice against very powerful players...it should battle test the froshes as they meet the Gillespie machine....

As a side note, even though Wake was exposed in their Bowl game, that (the redshirt frosh thing) was the anchor of Grobe's philosophy with his teams leading up to the successes of the last season which he mentioned several times during the media exposure as a result of their ACC success...hopefully, it will reap similar dividends for LU in D1CS.

I haven't said I didn't like getting them. I think we should not build our program around them.

We should work hard and build up from high school, but if a FBS player decides to come here then ok, it's like finding a $20 on the ground. You don't turn it down, but you don't go around basing your bank account on how many $20 bills you'll find on the ground.

at this point i am basing my bank account on anything i can find, so any 20 dollar bills you find you should send them my way

seriously though, high school should be the focus like you said, but this is always an avenue I-AA schools look to, so its not a bad thing either

we are not building our program through transfers. we have what 3-4 impact transfers? i would welcome him. rocco is building through strong recruiting, and these guys just supplement that. keep in mind nothing is official.

Smoothie, I know we only have 3-4. I was talking about people like Manger who the only thing they seem to be focusing on is the transfers we are bringing in.

This would be a good pickup. Any thing we can get on either side of the ball to help beef up the lines help. SJ, I understand your feelings, and I feel the same way. We must build up from the high school ranks. I don't think it hurts to have 1-2 transfers a year though. I know we had more than that last year, but we needed some help. From here on out, we must concentrate on the high schoolers, but if someone wants to come to us from UVa, Tech, Pitt, etc. then let them come. I think your $20 bill analogy was perfect.

You ask about it all the time. You seem to care about transfers waaaaay more than anyone else.
