It's pretty well centered on the post. If you're looking down the tunnel onto the field, the post is directly in your line of sight.

Throw me into the throngs of supporters for Libertine's photographic contributions.

The mention of the tunnel brings up another thought ... do we have an inflatable tunnel to run from the Ops Center to the field? Just curious. And its not what I would call a priority.

we had a blue one for the old field house. I'd assume they're using the same one. I can't imagine the them playing some intense music and watching our players run out of the back of the ops center through the glass double doors.

There was one for midnight madness a few years ago. It was probably rented though.

I hear they are looking for a sponsor to step up and provide a longer tunnel. The one we have can't be more than 15 feet long. How many football players are going to hide in there at once?

I'd love to see an inflatable with an inferno of flames look at the exit point. Picture the fog (with the smoky look) and the amidst the inflatable fire with the football players pouring out ... that will get the crowd jazzed and the players amped up.

Meanwhile back to the original discussion. Bad admin hijacking thread. Bad admin.

I personally would like to see us do the football version of this:

In all seriousness, it seems like we're focusing a lot on the eagle when we have one of the coolest/engergizing/intimidating visuals to bank on staring us right in the face.

I was driving by the stadium at lunch and from the looks of things almost all the turf for the main field is down. Looked like about 20 yards to go from what I could tell. The sidelines haven been laid out but those should be at least down by the end of the week. There is still other stuff that needs to go in but this progress is a great sign

Just to recap so nobody gets too excited
Tribe4SF wrote:The sand and rubber infill is applied after the turf pads are down, and after the hash marks, yard line numbers and logos are inserted. The infill is applied with a machine that brushes up the blades of artificial grass. If you look at them now they are about 2 1/2 inches long. The infill is about 2 inches (10 lbs./ sq. ft.), so when it's done it looks like closely cut bermuda.

The "grass" blades are definitely very soft ... and long, so the infill will definitely give the field a much better base. They were working pretty tirelessly down there today.

They wanted to start working Saturday, but the second truck got a flat tire, which is why nothing happened until yesterday.

The turf is pre-colored as part of the manufacturing process. It eliminates the need for painting (which around here is huge). Both end zones will be navy blue. Apparently, there was some thought of making them red but JB was told that after a few years, even with the UV protectant in the "grass", the red would have faded a bit and taken a little pinkish tone. I need to back up on something I said a while back. All logos, numbers, hashes and markings will be sewn into the field except for the Big South logo. That will be painted on.

The blue makes more sense based on that information, although if red would have been able to hold up better, I would still like that. I am curious though, as to why all graphics would be sewn on except for the big south logo and why they would paint that on. From the FieldTurf site, they show how they change high profile fields over several times in the span of a few days, so wouldn't they want the logo to be able to be changed, especially if they are speaking of moving up in the future?

I would think from a cost perspective that a painted logo is a better way to go. I say we use chalk and let the players mess it up each game by halftime.

The BS's last minute logo change meant we couldn't get into the manufacturer in time. That's the second logo change in 5 years and the sewn-in elements are fairly expensive to replace. It's basically to make things easier should the Big South decide to randomly change the logo again...or if we should decide to replace the Big South logo with something else.

A big semi load of sand was just dumped next to the press box. Can the Truck O' Rubber be far behind?

That's exactly what I was thinking but I didn't want to be the one who said it.

I think they should just shread all of the tires from the freshman cars and use that rubber on the field. That would take care of parking problems on campus too.

No freaking kidding. Traffic today was backed up past the Vines with Freshmen too lazy to walk to TRBC for orientation today.

I'm nowehre near Lynchburg right now (about 200 miles away), but I remember how bad things were this time of the year (and that was before the crazy enrollment boom). Freshman orientation week and graduation were two times you didn't want to be anywhere near campus.
