How can a company get away with being such a sucky peice of crap? Are they the only ones who make this stuff? I guess if you have a monopoly you can do whatever you want. If we suck this year I'm going to blame it on this company.

They said that so many people ordered this stuff at the same time that they got backed up.

I drove into campus today to take a look, and there appeared to be some folks and light equipment on the "field" doing some final prep work. Please hurry so Libertine can exhale.

Oh, frabjous day! Calloh! Callay!!!!

The turf is here! The turf is here! They're unloading it now!

Not making this up -- JB and Paul R had Dave Young and a plane standing by to fly them down to the factory if it didn't show by this evening!

What a relief! I was thinking that our home opener was going to be at old City Stadium.

It's all rolled up in giant white wrap. No green. But there sure are a lot of rolls. I don't know where my digital camera is but I'll see if I can get a pictorial documentary going this weekend. (If they install it this weekend)

Okay, I feel moved to open the competition to anyone who can get a pic of something other than rocks on the field (white rolls included).

The lady in white is the official Seamstress (yes, that's her title. She's in charge.)

Off-loading from the truck.

Nice job Libertine!

Out of curiosity, what's the official title of the guy in the gray t-shirt?

That's going to be a nice haul back and forth from the top of the stadium. I hope the 'seamstress' has access to a few forklifts this week.

The president of the install company was here this morning and the Seamstress (she gets capitalization from me) says they're pulling crews off of jobs at UVa and UNC to get ours done.

The guy in the grey is Gary "#1 Fan" Housholder. He's been hanging around w/ Barry Bonds trainer. Somehow, I don't think he got the regimen down quite right.

Gary is a great guy. I think he has missed very few LU events in the history of the school (he did have to go into the hospital for a spell a couple years ago)

According to the Flames web site--that is the case:

Williams Stadium FieldTurf Arrives - Installation Set To Begin On Saturday

August 11, 2006
Lynchburg, Va.

Midway through Friday afternoon, the new FieldTurf for Williams Stadium started to arrive, helping Liberty get one step closer to completing the surface renovations of its football stadium.

Trucks arrived at Williams Stadium and unloaded 32 rolls of FieldTurf with a second truck set to arrive on Saturday with the remaining rolls and other necessary materials to complete the project.

The installation crew will begin working on the sidelines on Saturday morning, while the complete installation project is scheduled to take 10 to 14 days (weather permitting).

The installation of new FieldTurf is one of numerous athletics facility upgrades to take place all around the Liberty University campus this summer. Earlier this week, flag poles were installed atop the East stands at Williams Stadium and on the lawn in front of the Hancock Athletic Center.

The floor in the top portion of the Hancock Athletic Center weight room was renovated, while the court and the surface around the court were redone at the Vines Center.

Finally, besides the surface renovations at Williams Stadium, the completion of the Williams Football Operation Center is within days as construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility.

10-14 days? Everyone I've talked to says it takes five days to get the stuff down.

not to mention 10-14 days puts them right up against the home opener

I'm betting it takes HALF that time, but no one wants to miss a deadline at this point so they padded the estimate.

"Mr Scott, how long until you have the warp engines back online?"

"I need at least 2 hrs, Jim"

"You have 45 minutes"
