Our rushing attack has gotten significantly worse each other the last three years. We rushed for 184 yards per game in 2013, 163 last year, and only 119 this year. At the same time, our total offense has gone from 420 yards per game in 2013 to only 379 this year.

Our special teams have been consistently bad under Gill. I believe a large part of this is because there's no one guy overseeing everything. Fobbs has the title but different people oversee different portions of the unit. With the title comes the responsibility of the entire unit. We need a significant change in strategy in that facet of the game.

Lastly, something has to change in mental preparation. We were 1-5 on the road this year and only one of those games was in an environment that was anything near hostile. We are 4-10 in non conference road games over the past four years. We have to get better at that.

Again, ill says Fobbs is also RB coach and not in danger, if the OL isn't blocking backs can only do but so much, and top that off with one rb coming back off ACL and the other didn't stay healthy, but the 3rd emerged as a possible goto back, so how could you justify the RB coach being in danger.

ill say that that tough OOC schedule has also helped us in the tight games we play with CSU(not this year) but also CCU and last year play-offs. And to boot we have split the FBS games last two years. Yes it would be nice to win a game or too, but give the man a lil credit here.

Fobbs is only in danger from the special teams portion. I should've clarified that better. I don't think he'll lose his job, only that it may change and get shuffled around.

I'm probably in the minority here, but if had to choose between 2 losses to Monmouth and G-W and one win over Coastal vs. 2 wins against Monmouth and G-W and a loss to Coastal, I'd take the Coastal win scenario. That's how much I hate losing to the Beach Chickens.

You'd rather a victory over a rival in a meaningless game than making the playoffs?

I will agree and disagree with this. The tight games do help later in the year. However, getting blown out to ISU and SIU on the road deserve to be criticized.

You think we would have made the playoffs with two straight season ending losses to Chuck South and Coastal?

how do you figure that, maybe they were better than we were period. Again, just because they had a terrible record the year before made them that much worse, or did it show that maybe our conference wasn't as good as theirs

If we don't lose to Monmouth and G-W, I don't think we lose to CSU.

Very disappointing season. we should have beat GW, Mommouth and Charleston Southern. Should have finished 9-2.

It is not sitting well with me that we aren't going to be in the playoffs this year. I was at the JMU game last year and it was awesome to see the team on an upward trend. The team severely underachieved this year. Would have liked to see more focus against teams like GW and Monmouth. Thursday night showed what the team was capable of! I hope that next year we can continue the trend and be the national powerhouse we want to be.

I feel like with how we played against the likes of Montana, Chuck So., Coastal, GA State we could have gone into the playoffs and won the first round game for sure and then depending on who we played in second round we could have won no doubt unless it was JSU or NDSU. Truly disappointed in not being able to look forward to a home playoff game this year, but as I have learned to say with the best of cub fans, "just wait till next year." On a brighter note at least I will get to see the 2nd Alabama player ever hoist the heisman trophy in a few weeks and then hopefully watch the Tide win their 16th National Championship!

1. Our offensive production has gone down the last two years - 37ppg, 32 ppg and 26 ppg. :(

2. Our attendance has gone up the last two years - 15K, 17K and 19K :D

One bad game is a killer but 2 was just devastating. Hopefully lesson learned moving forward.

I concur with this assessment, but the bigger issue imo is who they have started to falter against, and that is teams withing the BSC itself. For some reason teams are starting to close the gap on talent in LU and they cant just up and bully anyone anymore. Hence Monmouth and GW, Presby is better and played us tougher, KSU will be a handful. People think we are just supposed to show up and ppl lay down for LU and that my friends is not happening. THAT, to me is what is needing to be addressed.

BuryYourDuke wrote:There has definitely been a Liberty/Coastal effect on the Big South's recruiting. Coaches can sell playing a team like Coastal that has gotten deep in the playoffs, and they can sell getting to go play in a big time atmosphere like Liberty. That has improved the entire conference.
Not what I said at all, I stated that they are faltering against other teams in the BSC in scoring, and that overall other teams in BSC are getting better and LU is becoming stagnant or to put it blatantly not getting it done coaching wise or either the players the coaches are putting out there are not getting it done. One or the other

I would like us to be a little more creative offensively. Change the pace sometimes and go no huddle quick count. Too many times JW would get to the line and begin his cadence only to look over to the sidelines for their input. I know they are watching alignment upstairs and communicating that to the sidelines but I still think we should go quick more. Also a note on special teams. Among other things, we had a punter with the slowest release time in the country. To allow this to happen for almost an entire season is inexcusable. The coaches involved should have demanded he change his pre-punt steps to guarantee a quicker delivery.

Gardner-Webb is not getting better. That was purely an all-time gag job by the Flames, and it's the reason why they're sitting at home this week. Monmouth is improving, and will get better as it adds scholarships. Kennesaw State is just starting to scratch the surface. Presbyterian has struggled to upgrade talent offensively but Nichols seems to have something on defense. Charleston Southern will be better next year than it was this year, especially if Chadwell stays.
