Barnes was an excellent back because he could always squeeze a few yards out of his run after he got hit. The difference between an RB getting three-to-four yards a carry and one getting five-to-six was huge.

Goodman was a beast. He was your prototypical flatten-your-opponent RB. When he was in high school, Nebraska was recruiting him (he chose us because Nebraska was basically going to use him on their practice squad).

Gado was the fastest, and we even lined him up as a slot receiver a few times.

The fact that we didn't exploit this three-headed monster is all you need to know about the woeful Karcher tenure.

One thing that Karcher did well was schedule quality opponents every year even though the results were not what we expected. App State, UCF, USF, Bowling Green, UConn, Hofstra, JMU, YSU. Every year we played a lot of 1AA heavyweights and 2 1A's and some very good ones at that.

Yes the 3 running backs were good and had very mediocre blocking in front of him helping out. But poor quarterback play due to inefficiency and a porous defense offset what greatness we had at running back.

I think that you are wrong about Goodman. I remember Sam Gado being recruited by Nebraska and some other 1A's due to his over 2000 yards rushing his senior year in high school. He was on several recruiting publications listings (I don't believe Rivals existed at that time). I don't remember Goodman being recruited that heavily and I think that he split time between Running back and defensive end in high school.

I really hate drudging through my memory of that time period when our defense was pourous and despite having a former NFL QB as head coach we couldn't throw the ball with any regularity. But Dre & Eugene were awesome. And frankly, once Sam got the opportunity he was spectacular. He just had trouble getting any PT when the two guys in front of him were so spectacular.

Anybody know where Samkon began college before transferring into LU?

So you think it's time for a new coach? Do you think the players won the game today all by themselves?

NOT time for a new coach! Coaches can only do so much it's up to the players to perform. Last week they didn't. This week they were all monsters on the field and I pitty any team we play while we are in this groove 8)

Sam NEVER transferred, he started and ended at Liberty. Where did you hear that he transferred? Sam came to Liberty straight out of Ben Lippen HS.

He briefly attended a school in South Carolina before realizing they didn't have a football team and immediately transferring up to LU.

Especially since absolutely nothing has changed, except for another preseason full of over-hyping the team.

I read a comment yesterday. It was by the person that started this thread. I just wanted to point out how much of a Roller Coaster some peoples emotions are about our football program. If you dont know what I am talking about, just wait until we lose a game we are predicted to win. Never mind our 80% conference record, it will be time for a new coach, new defensive front, new D coordinator.

I stood by it then and I stand by it now. Rocco has taken this team as far as he can. If I'm proven wrong I'll be the first person to come in this thread and take my medicine.

"I think this is what most of us were praying to see when we first started seeing success on the field. Big time football talent who are wanting to grow in their relationship with Christ. We're starting to see some dominos fall in a big way"

some need to be held accountable. :D

Liberty's success and growth as a university has big time athletes looking to come and be a part of what we're doing.

I like Rocco. I think he's a fine coach. I just believe he's taken this team as far as he can and it's time for a different voice in the locker room. Villify me if you'd like but it's an opinion and I stand behind it.
