OK.
This level of fatuous absurdity is THE reason I haven't been on this board in a while. After a while, I simply got tired of reading equine excrement passed off as logical thought by those who represent, if not in fact but by association, a university that I would otherwise be proud of. I would not be here now if I had not been referred to this thread by players and family of staff members who had the misfortune of reading it for themselves. I've read the first page here and the last and that's been enough to more than affirm my belief that Flamefans has completely outlived itself and has become the digital equivalent of a aged, weak but rabid dog. Not even a cool dog either; more like a toothless, frothing Pomeranian.
The bottom line is that 2006-2010 is far and away the best years in the history of the LU football program. If you whiny, hysterical children want to talk about facts, here's some facts.
- LU Football has won 39 games in the last 5 years. Win Saturday and it's 40. That's a winning percentage of 71%. No 5-year stretch in school history comes even close to that.
LU Football has won a share of 3 consecutive conference titles. Win Saturday and it's 4. Only Montana has a longer streak than that.
LU Football has finished in the top 25 of the FCS Coaches' Poll each of the last three years and, likely, will again in 2010. Unlike the TSN poll and the fan polls, the Coaches' Poll is voted on by people who actually are involved in FCS football. One would presume that they actually know what they're talking about.
LU Football has been top 10 in offense the last four seasons and top 25 in defense the last five.
Even with a loss this Saturday, the worst record over the last 5 years is still a winning record. Prior to 2006, there were a grand total of 12 winning season in the history of the school and only 7 Since the move to I-AA/FCS.
For those of you want to discuss facilities, here are some more facts.
In May of 2006, Williams Stadium consisted of a worn expanse of old-school astroturf, a high school pressbox, 12,000 bleacher seats and massive hole in the ground. Today, less than four and a half years later, Williams Stadium is a jewel and no one could be more aware of that fact than those who get to look at it day in and day out. And, yet, in the entire length and breadth of the history of American football, the football stadium, as nice as it may be wherever it may be, has yet to win a game. The padded seats in the upper deck have never scored a point. The extra concession stands have yet to force a turnover. Games are played in good stadiums and bad stadiums every day and, while having Williams is certainly a great blessing for our program
now[/], the game has very little to do with the house it's played in.
For those of you want to talk about budgets, here's another fact. Unless, the chancellor chooses to weigh in, no one in this thread actually knows a Scorcho-forsaken thing about the athletic budgets. Oh, you think you have an idea because you looked at the OPE website and everyone on CS.com says we spend more than anyone else, but they don't actually know anything at all and neither. You could take a guess and say it's more than Charleston Southern or UNC-Asheville and you might be right or you might be wrong but it's still just a guess. Personally, I'm not going to be the one to tell you because, firstly, that would be inappropriate but, mostly, because I don't know myself.
In short, go take your meds, Leo. 14, go back to Jersey where they know all about winning championshi...oh, wait. And Scorcho? Do the world a favor; put this whiny, delirious mutt to sleep and pull the plug.
"I invite all the young champions on Liberty Mountain to come up and rub my woolly mustache."
