• Liberty’s coaching staff had planned to run several field goal situation drills as the last session of the evening practice; however, the practice was cut short after the field goal unit had a 37-yard attempt blocked on what would prove to be the final play of the evening.
That's something of a misstatement. Practice was "cut short" b/c we were out of time.

Sounds like everything is going very well right now. I can't wait to see these guys in person!

Things are going exceptionally well, except for this red flag:

[quote]Drake had an up-and-down practice. Although he put the previously mentioned 40-yard field goal right down the middle, he missed a 46-yarder short and to the right on the final play of practice in a simulated end-of-game scenario."

didn't this just happen earlier this week?

Many spectators stopped and peered in at the luxury suites, which recently arrived atop the main concourse.
Pictures are needed, and I'm in NC.

now, I want to point something out here:

http://libertyflames.com/index.cfm?PID= ... 4&TeamID=9
Rocco was particularly pleased with the offense’s production in the two-minute situations. “Every time we’ve run the two-minute drill this spring, our offense has achieved. Whether it’s a touchdown or a field goal, they’ve been successful. That has been very positive.”

Signal caller Brock Smith scored a 15-yard touchdown on a draw up the middle during the two-minute drill. Sophomore David Drake also nailed a 40-yard field goal to cap another successful drive.

please please please, tell me you can repeat this in a REAL game scenario

I agree w/ Madmat that we need consistency, but I can live with an occasional missed 46 yd'er in the rain- we need the 40 yarders (and in) to be AUTOMATIC

Agreed.

If he can just stay consistant on anything inside of 40, I'll take it. Anything over 40-45+ is gravy.

if anyone wasnt at the last spring practice you missed the finish of practice on a 40-45 yard field goal. missed wide right with noise from the team. i don't know about ya'll but i'm still worried about the kicking game.

So..... if we consistently miss(as it seems) 40+ do we have lets say a kicker who can hit that?

Boy I dont think I can do another game like last year. Or the year before that.

I have been told by players on the team that Zac Cologne is gonna be back from his surgery and starting as field goal specialist. Now whether thats a good thing or bad.... i don't know. all i know is that we could have had more than a 6-5 season if it weren't for the fieldgoal unit.

I exposed the kid I do my thursday night radio show to flame fans last week and he was reading all the stuff people say about the kicking game...Zach is his roommate and he keeps saying he is getting better and was trained by Adam Vinatari or however the heck you spell his name....anyways he is convinced the kicking game will be just fine this year....

I on the other hand still am going to wait and see

It's good to hear that we are for the most part, injury free. Hopefully, when the game is over on Saturday the same will be the case.

Vince is going to terrorize QBs in this league. If he's coming at you, he essentially takes away half the field b/c you just can't throw over him. He batted down three passes at the line of scrimmage yesterday.

Rocco's practice style has a lot to do with why we've got so few injuries right now. High intensity but under control.
