Citadel has the same record having also beaten G-W as well as Charlotte in a shootout. Their losses aren't as bad as Furmans. Do those 2 programs have a lot more history and tradition of success in FCS than Bryant? No doubt. That doesn't mean they are better this year.
Compare our game against Bryant and our game against Norfolk State. Which one do you think was the better team? I think that it was the Norfolk State team. Which ever way you pick, we would both agree that these teams are very comparable in talent to one another. Also, there is another common opponent that they share to consider: Maine. Bryant won a home game against Maine on homecoming 13-10. Norfolk State lost at Maine 6-10. Anything can happen on any given Saturday, but we could reasonably determine that they are very comparable to one another.
Now, Norfolk State is struggling with the mid/bottom level teams in the MEAC: Savannah State, Delaware State, Morgan State. NSU has not had any significant injuries or key players missing game time that I can tell. Bryant has only played five games and they are pretty healthy as well from what I can tell. The two teams remain very comparable.
Coastal played a close game against NC A&T, but they destroyed the other MEAC teams (NC A&T and SCSU are better than NSU; SCSU beat NC A&T 13-0). Coastal beat The Citadel handily, but it took two overtimes to beat Furman and PC kept the game within 12 points almost the entire game. Furman, Presbyterian, Western Carolina, The Citadel, and Gardner-Webb are virtually impossible to rank even though they have played each other a few times and share common opponents. I won't even try.
So, if I were ranking the teams as of this moment it goes Coastal>SoCon/Big South teams>NC A&T/SCSU>Norfolk State/Bryant>FAMU.
One correction: I forgot FAMU in the other post (probably because of the 48-3 beating against Coastal); I would say FAMU and Elon are worse than Norfolk State and Bryant.
Of course much of this is splitting hairs and will all change again after this weekend.
