I count 9 years after Chuck Burch went to Gardner Webb. KG had Sam R as football coach for 3 years and all of Karcher for 6 years. That adds up to 9 years. I thought Chuck Burch did a good job considering what he had to work with. He seemed like a real nice guy but served during the "high debt" years which I believe LU cut back some $ on athletics.
As far as the arrival of Jeff Barber. It was anticipated after the arrival of Dan Rocco as the new football coach and talk about the revival of LU football and all of the improvements that were talked about. Whe Karcher was fired along with KG and others Jeff Barber was chosen as the man to improve athletics and was given more authority to make more decisions on his own instead of from Jerry Falwell. I think that all the things that happened that JB's arrival was highly anticipated.
Thom Parks. He had some great plans for the future of LU athletics and worked alongside KG but there were some issues with him that I believe are confidental. Also worked hard to get Karcher his 5 year contract and then when Karcher was fired Parks resigned shortly thereafter.
Yeah...I actually got to do an interview with him for the school paper. He was a great guy to talk to. I think I still have the article I wrote on my computer somewhere.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. My question was somewhat sarcastic in nature. My point being that the changes we've seen in the last year overshadow most of the changes we ever saw during the 9 years KG was at the helm. As I previously stated, some of KG's problem was in the Mansion with a smaller budget and a tighter leash... but for people to get on JB right now is just silly... The money sports are where it's at... We've been losing millions every year for a very long time... Dr. Falwell wants this thing to get to a place where the Athletic Department is at least breaking close to even and not losing 12 million annually...
