ballcoach15 wrote: October 24th, 2024, 10:33 am I blame most (not all) of the 10 and 15 yard yellow flags on bad refs. Face it, the refs can call something on every play, but those "something" calls seem to always go against us.
The late hit on the QB was a good call. Do you have specific calls you disagree with or are you spouting your usual nonsense
At a key point in the game. One of our receivers was interfered with on a long pass and and it was not called.
Yeah. I know what play you are talking about. That was a bad missed call. But it didn’t cost the game.

The thing is... it wasn't just one bad missed call. It was two bad calls both of which went against us on key plays. That 4th and 10 call alone... we get off the field in a one possession game with a chance to win it outright. Instead the call happens, they move the ball and kill more clock and then score. Hard to feel like that doesn't impact the game.

One or two missed calls? We probably got away with one or two ourselves. This has nothing to do with officiating. Most every one of the penalties we earned. Just like the loss....we earned it. Time lapse between games leaves me with nothing more than...more time to prepare for this one. Neither the coaches nor the team came prepared. Heck, the expressions on their faces on the sidelines seemed to say, "we have no answers" for the way the game was going. I don't know what the root cause is, but expect more of the same unless major fixes aren't put into place. This has been building all year and here we are.

Just like in college, you earn the grade you get. We earned the "L".

I’m not sure I had a problem with that call.

Just saw this quote from Chadwell last night in his wrap-up w/ Nick Pierce, "Maybe we’re just not very good either,” Chadwell said. “Maybe people are realizing we’re not very good. We’ve got to play cleaner to try and have a chance to win with the current group that we have.”

Yikes.

I'm on record saying that Oliver is not very good on downfield coverage plays, but that call was soft imho given the circumstances and the fact that they didn't throw the flag on the far worse play against the KSU DB earlier in the game. Every crew is going to have their differences, but you should be able to pick up on their tendencies and their thresholds for what is and is not a penalty during the course of the game if they're consistent. It's the inconsistency from the same crew and sometimes the same SL/BJ throughout the game that is frustrating.

They just aren’t a very good team.

I watch as many games as I can and there is zero excitement about this team.

I was on site for a lot of losses we shouldn’t have taken whether to a better team or a worse one. But the games seemed exciting now was it because Nick was playing and I had more skin in the game who knows but I have a hard time watching this years team even when they are winning.

I’m not talking about any certain player at all I’m talking about the whole team in general.

***on a side note get rid of any uniform that has the baby blue in it.

We got away with some calls? I'd say that's unlikely considering the volume. One of the false starts that was called on Jordan White was extremely close and difficult to see in real time. They still called it on us to make it a 4th and 11.

Regardless, for context, I said previously that I didn't even want to talk about the officiating because there was plenty of crap for us to look at in the mirror. We did earn that "L" last night and if they don't fix this crap the next "L" will be taken at home in Williams Stadium, which is the only win streak we have left to defend. It's about pride now.

We're startig at 1.5 favorite against JSU. My guess that will change before the week is out.
ESPN reported it was the first time in 23 years a team 0-5 or worse defeated a team 5-0 or better. On national TV no less.

Like the last Hugh Freeze game with NMST we were @ 35 point favorites and got blown out. But this game (KSU) was on national TV for both supporters and detractors of LU to see.
