I'd love to see a pick of your HS helmet logo. Do they use the old logo or the newer verson we've had the last few years? I also hope he's a good coach.....lol.
We changed it to say Wildcats but it's the new logo.

If you're heading to the 'Whee make sure you put on your grown up britches, and thicken up your skin. You will be sitting with the students. Most 'mounts are good people but the time I attended a game, there was this particularly large girl and boy was she loud, that got on my nerves. You may want to buy a box of twinkies so you can make some new friends, and maybe a pack of smokes.

BTW, WCU has a great band.

That wasn't cocky or anything.

The game in Cullowhee isn't until next year.

Directions to Cullowhee:
I-40 West
Get to Asheville, turn left, away from civilization, and drive another hour.
Arrive in Cullowhee after thinking you were lost for 30 minutes.

After a few minutes on our board... you'll feel good about your program, guaranteed.
I've been by there but they have this ridiculous rule that you have to wait a month after joining in order to post. That sort of takes the thrill out of gameweek visits.
Gee.... that must be a new one. In the past, you registered, and they'd email you a link to your email and bingo, you were in. I'm sorry to hear that. Recommend you send the administrator a email about that, as most fans will join a board the week prior to the game.

That's nice..... the school colors purple and goal too? The helments look great.

What is your school's name and Coach? I'm sure the Cat fans on our board would enjoy seeing that pic and hearing about your coach, his records, etc. If you get a chance to post some of that stuff on our board, I'd appriciate it.

His name is Jimmy Upchurch. He's 20-24 since 2003 at our school (West Stokes, home of Mollie Fowler and Elise Wallace, two athletes at WCU, well, Elise was). Before that he was the top assistant at one of the best 1A schools in the state (East Surry). He's done a lot for the school that can't be seen yet because he set up a Little League and all of that. We have purple, black, and white jerseys for the school and two sets of pants so we have all kinds of combos.

I went to Cullowhee once.

Yep.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Here is the gameday story from Chris in the fishwrap:
Flames' desire to win still burns bright

By Chris Lang
Lynchburg News & Advance
November 4, 2006

Judging from the ruckus at Williams Stadium on Thursday afternoon, it was hard to tell Liberty was a team in the middle of a four-game losing streak.

Wynton Jackson caught a pass at practice, glided over the middle, juked two men and sprinted for the end zone. Teammates oohed and aahed the display of athleticism. The tempo and attitudes were upbeat.

The Flames clearly haven't given up on this season.

"You can see by coming out to practice that we're having a blast, even though we're 3-5," quarterback Brock Smith said. "We're just loving every day out here."

A win today at home against struggling Western Carolina would snap LU's losing streak and keep hope alive for a winning season, an important benchmark in measuring the progress made in Danny Rocco's first year as head coach.

"It would really be huge," Rocco said. "These kids are extremely resilient. They've been very energetic and positive.

"There is no negative energy on this football team whatsoever. No doom and gloom. None of that. (A win) would validate a little bit that what we're doing is going to lead to future wins."

In a matchup of skidding teams, Western Carolina is sliding worse. Since beating Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 16 to improve to 2-0, the Catamounts have lost six straight games and likely will finish a Southern Conference season winless for the first time since they joined the league in 1977.

Rocco expects to get Western Carolina's best game. The Catamounts finish with a home game against Appalachian State, Division I-AA's top-ranked team, and a trip to Florida, ranked seventh in the Associated Press Top 25.

"They're going to come in here with everything they've got and try to leave it all on the field and take whatever risks and chances they need to take to win a football game," Rocco said.

Darius Fudge has been the most consistent Catamount, rushing for 802 yards, including three straight games of 100 or more yards. Fudge moved into Western Carolina's all-time top 10 after running for 132 yards last week at Wofford.

"This kid's a talented guy," Rocco said.

"He's got really good vision. I don't know that he's a 4.4 guy, but he's having an excellent year there rushing the football."

Liberty expects to have its full complement of running backs healthy. Rashad Jennings (high ankle sprain) continues to inch closer to 100 percent, and in his place, Zach Terrell has broken 100 yards in consecutive games.

Smith threw for 127 yards last week at Coastal Carolina and threw a season-high two interceptions, but the low numbers had more to do with gusty conditions at Brooks Stadium.

Smith got comfortable finding his receivers on intermediate routes, completing flanker screens and short outs.

Those passes could be there again today against a Western Carolina team that plays a lot of zone defense.

"If you can complete three or four passes in a row in the beginning of the game, you're going to have the confidence to sit back in the pocket and trust the line to give you protection for the deeper throws," Smith said. "It also improves the confidence the receivers have in me."
