They don't like the focus group name anymore than you, that's why I put it in quotations.

It's mainly going to be the first 10 people that signed up for the club (something like that), me, Barber, Goode, Nathan Cooley (the new SGA president), someone from student life, and I'm going to try and get someone from the Red Man Group. What they want are people that aren't going to be extremely pessimistic but will say what they think will work and how to make things exciting.

SJ (See I am addressing YOU ) Here is my thoughts - These and a dollar will get you two donuts at Sheetz

1. These types of meetings have happened before with great ideas and ZERO follow through. So if you want something done, do it yourself!
2. Forget this focus group stuff. It sounds like it will only be a "Mutual Admiration Society". You want to reach students who either are not attending or are apathetic. I good suggestion would be for you, the SGA person and Goode to hang out at the dining commons (has it changed names) for a lunch and a dinner and just sit with some students and ask them questions. (These should all be the same questions the three of you ask) THESE ARE THE PEOPLE we want at the games, might be a good idea to get THEIR feedback
3. What has SMGT classes done lately? Find out who is teaching either the Practicum or Marketing class and have them come up with a simple 8 - 10 question sheet and have them at all the student hang outs. They can then collect them crunch the numbers and get you some good answers to how to get people to games.

(BTW, I know someone who HAS a survey like that AND the tabulated answers, but he's not available for awhile)

I disagree. Barber really wants this to happen. It's a passion of his. We're working on this now, in April, not in August. This will work. I'm going to make it work if I have to do it myself. With that being said, I don't think I'll hafta do it myself.

That picture brings up a point that threads back to logos...they worked so hard to get the required signatures or whatever it was to get the VA DMV to issue that plate with the old logo...do you think that they want to stay with that one, or try to change it over to the new one? Any takers?

Anyone notice they are re-painting the back of the scoreboard on University Blvd? A white back ground, and so far they have just gotten the start to the logo. Looks like it will be pretty sweet looking.

After looking at the license plate logo again, and remembering a thread about a varsity letter logo...that interlocking LU would look interesting with flames coming out of each of the stems at the top of the L and U. Perhaps a mock up that borrows from semi-truck exhaust pipes with flames shooting out of it (similar to the Pistons "exhaust pipe" look on their script logo with the flames and pipes opening at the top of the LU script)


Also more names:

Speaking of Firestarters, I think they oughta bring that back for 2006-2007. I thoroughly enjoyed it during the 2004 football season (heck I remember literally stopping what I was doing and tearing across to the other side of the stadium when they called my name. I don't know if Dr Kerr would have lied it if the managers had been in uniform that year but that still was an interesting experience. By the way I didn't win the big drawing that week...actually another person from teh band that also was called at that game won)

I know I posted this on the other thread- but imagine this as BANNERS hanging from every lightpole lining the main drags on and off campus- like the Clemson tiger paw flags hanging up and down the streets. Its done in many college towns.

even if you omit the spring game part, just include LU Football 2006: the Rocco era BEGINS" or something of that nature. It would shorten the whole thing up a bit.

Maybe even style similar billboards to put up all around town.
