Parking was a little better this morning. If they enforce this it will really help things out.

I have a pass to park anywhere on campus.

It's quite nice.

I hope this works. Every day there are countless number of resident students in commuter and faculty parking spots. I believe the new parking is due to the recent survey where most people added that commuter should be able to park on campus without having to get to school an hour before class to find a spot.

Are you freaking kidding me?

They're complaining about the amount they're charged to park on campus and now they can't drive to North. They're lucky they have their freaking cars if they live on campus. Most campuses don't let freshmen have cars and sophomores have to go through a lottery to use theres. Not to mention a lot of schools charge a lot more than $300 to park.

Yeah, I know the last thing current students want to hear is how tough us old hags had it back int he day. But freshmen weren't allowed cars on campus back in the Late '80s.

Agree with you, freshmen should not have cars on campus, need to get go study habits down and use to campus life.

It has nothing to do with study habits or whatever. They're gonna goof off away from home. It's a case of being the only solution.

Of course, one thing that would help would to have all four busses lined up after convo. Today was a madhouse, only 2 busses and everyone wanting to climb aboard, and most people left behind.

We on East Campus and I guess those in the Circle too should be allowed to drive to North...especially those of us who live nowhere near the bus stop on East...grrr...we pay the most and yet get the least in campus improvements...grrr!!!!! (AND SJ-I'm a senior)

You live in the best dorms on campus. You know before moving over there it's the furthest away from everything. The parking at north is even worse than main campus.

Yes, they are the best dorms on campus (provided they remain standing), but when I signed up for them we could still drive to North. And the bus stop is really only convenient to 5 dorms (E20-24). All the rest (E1-19) have a major walk to that bus stop...indeed its better for us to take the tunnel to DeMoss. They need to fill in a drainage pond to create a turn-around area in front of the dorms that are central on East Campus, and not at the extreme end of it.

These sanctimonious little brats on facebook hack me off. Pardon my french. I felt LUCKY to be allowed to have a car the LAST semester of my Soph year- it wasn't even a remote possibility prior to that. NEWSFLASH: YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO ANYTHING. YOU ARE 18 or 19, ATTENDING A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY - YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE RULES, LEAVE. JERRY MAKES CHANGES TO ACCOMDATE THE GREATER GOOD- NOT MAINTAIN YOUR COMFORT LEVEL.

breathe, Medic, breathe.

Now- in a more constructive vein:

At homecoming- I asked the director of the bus service about that very topic; why aren't there more stops, or at least stops around the circle dorms or in that general vicinity.

The answer was that numerous studies were done (by POLLING current students) and it was found that kids were willing to walk up to 6 minutes to a busstop. Therefore, any distance greater than 6 minutes would be taken into account, less than 6 minutes would not, at this time. There may well be additional stops added, and soon- but to start with, DeMoss/Vines was a central pickup spot- and the walk from the furthest dorms TO the stop was timed at an average of 5.5 minutes (from a random sample of 10-12 people).

The major issue at this time with the circle is that busses cannot access that area safely, it is simply too congested - which is why many spots have been removed to accomodate bus traffic/parking at the new stops that WERE recently put into service.

(its early - did any of that rambling explanation make sense?)

PEACE AND LOVE. PAmedic OUT.
