Warner's result is closer than expected...not surprising since he abandoned his centrist ways and essentially followed Obama's lie of "If you like your health plan you can keep your health plan," and "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor," in passing the ACA.

Yeah...I don't expect this to really change the dysfunction in Washington. Especially if McConnell is in charge, he'll just tinker at the edges. Wouldn't surprise me to see him use Obama as an excuse to not being able to do anything meaningful for the next two years.

In other news: recreational marijuana now legal in Oregon and Alaska. Possession of 2 ounces now legal in DC (assuming Congress doesn't reverse it).

And yes, Washington will continue to be dysfunctional.

Dysfunctional, but legally high as a kite, which makes for more fun and better parties... Now's a good time to be a seller in DC. Highest income per capita in the U.S. and I'm sure there are plenty of people who will come out of the shadows to exercise their newly established rights.

Just looking back over this and I still think that Gilespie went too soft on Warner (when he was actually running commercials) about the ACA.
Here's what the ad should have looked like:
[run the clip of Warner saying that people could keep their plans]
[Ed speaking directly to the camera with a stern, straight face] "There are only two explanations for what you just heard. Mark Warner is either knew exactly what he was doing and he blatantly lied to Virginians about what Obamacare would do to their healthcare, or he is completely incompetent because he voted for a bill that he didn't read or understand. In either case, he is not fit to represent the people of this Commonwealth."

Run that thing until there is a hole in the tape. (wait, video is digital now??)
