Its pretty clear that this Sunday is the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Do you remember where you were when you first saw the news reports? (I think there was a topic about this before but I thought Id start another one

I was a student at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA. I was in weightlifting class when one of the other cadets heard on the radio in the weight room that someone had flown a plane into the World Trade Center. After we finished I went to shower and change when we got the announcement for a school circle formation on "Company Street". It was there that Col. Baker (who just retired recently) gave the news to the corps. I know that we watched the news in my English class right after that and there was concern among the seniors and post-graduates that they might invoke the draft on that day or very soon after.

I was a junior in high school, also in weightlifting class. We were outside running on the track when someone ran outside to let the teacher know what had happened. We went back inside and turned on a TV just in time to see the second plane hit.

i was living in Raleigh, NC at the time and had taken the day off and slept in. I did not even know about it until i had turned on the radio going to the gym.

I was at work in the building on airport road across from the commercial aviation terminal. I actually cried on the way home for lunch that day. I couldn't believe this could happen to America. I knew life would not be the same again and the absolutely beautiful weather that day seemed deceptive. I remember how ghostly quiet the skies were for the next week or so.

Getting awakened by a phone call from my mother-in-law asking if I had seen television yet that morning. I flipped on the TV in my house in Round Rock, Texas just in time to see the 2nd tower hit.

Mrs. Sly was flying above Austin as an airborne traffic reporter and was immediately grounded.

What a horrific day.

I had just recently graduated from high school and was working overnights at a gas station. I was still living with my parents. I was dead asleep when my mom told me a plane had crashed into a building in NYC. I was still asleep and just kind of told her I needed to sleep. She came back in and said another building was hit, and it appeared to be something bigger....I got up and watched it all unfold in front of my eyes. Kind of in a daze.

My dad works at the Cape on the Air Force station there and they were on lockdown. On the local news they started naming possible other targets and Kennedy Space Center was one of them which had my mom very worried. Of course that ended up being nothing but it really was just a crazy day.

First period, junior year Bible class at Trinity High School in Morgantown, WV.

Had an early lunch period that year at 11:00am. They brought a TV in and we watched for three-straight periods. Watched news all night with family.

I was teaching history in suburban Atlanta. I'd gone into the social studies workroom on my planning period (2nd period) -- walked in just in time to see the second plane hit. Talk about a teachable moment.
