no flash yet? I think it's safe to say there will never ever be flash. Seems like the camera is pretty neat. All the other features I think I've seen on other phones

I saw a quote the other day that really summed up the debate for me, that html5 is the internet, its not something extra you have to download in order to use. And with all the touch stuff Apple is shooting out (the obvious, ipad, iphone, itouch, but also new products being developed like the touchpad, in essence replacing the mouse on a desktop) you understand his point about how flash doesnt work with touch products.

yes, html5 is the future. however, that doesn't work very well when you live in the present...

i've said it here before....sony's new dvd players now have the ability to stream netflix (the future of television/movies i believe) but they are still making dvd players....because people still need dvd players...

its apparent the iphone doesn't need to have it to be a top selling phone but it still sucks that it doesn't.

my daughter likes that she can make ice cream sundaes on it and my other daughter thinks my bacon fart app is awesome.

So, we just spoke with Apple and got the straight dirt on the reception issues that have been plaguing users today... and it's a little surprising. In essence, Apple cops to the fact there are reception issues with the new iPhone -- namely, that if you cover the bottom-left corner of the phone and bridge the gap between the notch there with your naked flesh, you could see some signal degradation. Yes, you read that right: it's not a software or production issue, simply a matter of the physical location of your hand in regards to the phone's antenna. The company's suggested fix? Move your hand position, or get a case which covers that part of the phone, thus breaking contact. As you can see in the email above which just arrived in our tip box, this is a sentiment which runs pretty high at the company. Here's the official statement:

UPDATE: Apple Admits To Inflating Signal Strength In IPhones

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Apple Inc. (AAPL) admitted Friday that all of its iPhones mistakenly over-inflate their signal strength as criticism mounts over the effectiveness of the wraparound antenna design of the iPhone 4.

The Cupertino, Calif., company said that since the original iPhone, it has used an incorrect method to determine the number of bars to display on the device. In several instances, the iPhone would display two more bars than it should, providing an overly rosy indication of its cellular reception.

Apple said it would issue a software update "within a few weeks" to fix the problem for every model but the original iPhone.

"Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong," Apple said in a letter.

I can say, after visiting the Apple Store in Durham tonight, that the reception issue is very real. It's very specific, but very real.

It wouldn't be an issue for me personally, except when I hold it in my left hand to do something other than talk on the phone. I do believe that it's a hardware issue caused (at least partially) by the body's conductivity bridging the two steel antennas. It kills the GSM reception pretty quickly, and actually boosts the WiFi/Bluetooth reception.

Having said that, I just read a fresh report that indicates it may be a manufacturing issue with a coating process on the steel bands that is being inconsistently applied. It seems like a large percentage of phones are affected, but not all. That would be consistent with the kinds of responses to the problem I've seen online.

I don't like how Apple initially handled this situation, but they've still got time to get it right. They need to move quickly, though. They're already having major supply issues with this model, though, so it's not going to surprise me if they don't want to pull units back in. The phone would become impossible to get for the foreseeable future if a recall happens.

You need to completely cover it and hold it there for around a minute to see the signal drop off.
