I disagree. I loved their stuff for what it was early on, but like RubberMallet said, it's very immature.
The self-titled album dropped most of the childish stuff and saw them branch out a little. It's my favorite album of theirs. It doesn't necessarily contain my favorite songs, but as a collection it's far more solid than any of their other albums. I think it was underrated because it was a little different.
The way I look at Blink, it's immature pop punk that's absolutely great. The self-titled album was a good album, but (to me) it wasn't a good Blink album. It would've made a good Boxcar Racer/Plus 44/Angels and Airwaves album, but not Blink.
It's kind of like Relient K. They were a very sophomoric, poppy band with clever lyrics and fun music. That's what got them famous. Then, starting with Five Score And Seven Years Ago it was like Matthew Thiessen wanted to start showing off how good he was at all these different instruments and they changed their style completely. The music wasn't bad, but it's not what I think of when I think Relient K. It's what I think when I hear Matthew Thiessen and The Earthquakes.
I know bands mature and the sound changes, but there are certain elements that just make a band, especially a pop punk band like Blink.
