Is it just me, or is Obama filling his cabinet with a bunch of DC insiders; especially for someone who is touting CHANGE as the byword of his administration?

It is not just you. even CNN has pointed that out. I guess instead of change, he meant THROWBACK.

Not just DC insiders, but all Clinton administration DC insiders.

I guess the "Change" is moreso of a change from the past 8 years, not an overall Change...I don't think he's made any bad picks though. I'm just praying he keeps Gates as Sec of Defense. That's one change I don't think we can afford right now.

If Clinton or Gates last four years in Obama's cabinet, I will be surprised

I think Clinton would...I would think, no, I would HOPE that, at a minimum, Gates is there for the duration of war.

I don't think I would have put a Clinton in the line of Presidential succession.

The Sec of State is NOT in line. It goes VP...then Speaker of the House. Who's scarier...Clinton or Pelosi?

Actually FR you would be wrong on this one. The Sec of State is in line:

1 Vice President and President of the Senate Dick Cheney
2 Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi
3 President pro tempore of the Senate Robert Byrd
4 Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
5 Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson
6 Secretary of Defense Robert Gates
7 Attorney General Michael Mukasey
8 Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne
9 Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer
— Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez (non-natural)†
— Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao (non-natural)†
10 Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt
11 Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Steve Preston
12 Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters
13 Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman
14 Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings
15 Secretary of Veterans Affairs James Peake
16 Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff

Hmmm. Time to do some research. How then, could HENRY KISSINGER even have been eligible for Sec of State?

BJ...thanks for the heads up. I consider myself enlightened on Presidential succession. The following explains Kissinger:
† Non-natural-born citizens are ineligible
Persons who are not natural-born citizens, such as Carlos Gutierrez (born in Cuba) or Elaine Chao (born in the Republic of China on Taiwan), are constitutionally ineligible to the office of President, as are persons who are not at least thirty-five years old or have not resided in the United States for fourteen years. This is also specified in the Presidential Succession Act (3 U.S.C. § 19(e)).

There's nothing in the Constitution about cabinet-level positions needing to be natural born citizens, whereas you have the same requirements for the President and Vice President. If it had gotten to the point where Kissinger was next in line, he would have been passed over in favor of who was next in the line of succession.

For example, Carlos Gutierrez and Elaine Chao are the secretaries of commerce and labor, respectively. If the level of succession gets to them, it passes over them and goes to the next person, Mike Leavitt, the Sec. of HHS.

Pelosi will still be ahead of Hillary Clinton, and she is still scarier.

I could remember the first 4 or 5 (although I had to look up the names to be certain). I had to look up the rest of the succession.

Actually, the scariest one on that list right now is Henry Paulson.
