My four-year-old daughter drew a nice big portrait of her favorite cartoon character and some hearts, with a rock, on the hood of my car. My car's black. Now I'm not looking for suggestions as to what to do with my daughter but my car. Anyone have any luck covering large scratches in their car, or is my only option going to a body shop?

Someday, you'll really laugh about this. However, it might have to wait for her wedding rehearsal dinner though. :)

That is a GREAT stunt. Fortunately your insurance will cover it. It falls under the same category as your car being vandalized. i.e. someone keys your car or breaks your windows. It SHOULDN'T fall under your homeowners so fight that if they try/ BTW, who insures your car/house. (NO I am not in insurance LOL)

She didnt draw the picture from the office where Daffy is giving it to Mickey did she?

I say leave it...every time you look at your car you'll remember her...good or bad :D

I have Rockingham insurance, but fixing this won't go past my deductible, so that's not the route I want to take. I might try having it buffed out, but has anyone tried any of those magic solutions that supposedly eliminate scratches? I don't think these have gone through the black paint, but I'd rather not buff off a large area of clearcoat.

it depends on how bad it is, but rubbing compound will take out some scratches. either way your hood willl need repainted eventually because your gonna end up taking off the clear coat fixing this so its just a matter of time till you have to paint it

Actually, you shouldn't have any deductible on this claim. These are usually 0 deductable, but you may have a crappy policy too LOL

I couldn't get a good close-up with my camera, and the sky on the black paint doesn't make for good pictures anyways, but here's what it looks like:

That's pretty good artwork for a 4 year old. I bet your wife did it.

No way...way to intense for a happy wife....has to be a neighbors whore daughter

but seriously...this is good work...

Can I ask a question to everyone other than Alum? Did anyone else laugh when they saw the pictures? I mean it's really not funny but for whatever reason I really did laugh...I think one day he'll laugh about this too...just not anytime soon after these payments

All the parents of young children on here grimaced and ran to their garages to check their own cars.

yeah....there is nothing you can do other than repainting the hood...which having it doen right will cost around 500 dollars....they wil have to sand, and then a few coats of black, and a few coats of clear coat....and depending upon how old, blending...
