...of course the ultimate irony is that it would NOT be Hillary who would be the first female President.

Seriously, I pray I am wrong on this one (usually I am), and she helps McCain get elected.
what "NATIONAL" experience does an illinois/arizona senator have?...

this has to have the dems shaking in their boots right now. they were already acting scared by not letting conservatives talk to any representatives of the democratic part at the DNC. every other year they ahve helped conservatives interview dems, but this year they went out of their way to ensure that a conservative doesnt interview a dem.

When Barack entered the Illinois legislature, Ms Palin already had five years of elected service under her belt.

My favorite line of the night came from Chris Matthews when he claimed that McCain was "playing politics" with his VP choice. Really? Are you sure that's what he was doing? Congratulations, moron.

Someone was just watching FoxNews! Did you hear Gov Huckabee talk about how he learns more in 1 month of being a gov then years in Senate...bottom line is Obama dropped the ball on letting these 18 million votes go and McCain picked up the ball he dropped and all the Dems can say is "he wouldnt have picked her if Clinton was on the ballet" Yeah...your right!

She doesnt care if you're a republican or dem she just wants things done right and she proved that by going against a corrupt republican...she hasnt let Washington corrupt her (yet) and was in charge of a state that has the most $$$$ in resources and cleaned it up all the while running it

NewsAdvance wrote:Falwells: Palin to help McCain in key areas

Published: August 29, 2008

John McCain’s choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate on the Republican presidential ticket raised the excitement level for Lynchburg-area leaders including the Rev. Jonathan Falwell and Mathew Staver, dean of the Liberty University School of law.

“Not only is she pro-life, pro-family and pro-marriage, but she has a great record of exposing government corruption and government waste,” said Falwell, pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church.

“I’m excited to see this,” Falwell said Friday. Palin’s selection surprised some observers, he said, but “I think it’s a good surprise.”

Staver said Palin represented “an absolutely brilliant choice” and “a master genius stroke.”

Jerry Falwell Jr., president of Liberty University, said he learned about Palin from an airport TV monitor while traveling through Florida. “I think it’s a brilliant choice.”

I've been queasy about voting for McCain for a long time now. Now, I feel better about it. And I called this yesterday on another message board. :P

I really don't care if he is pandering or not. The GOP has pandered to the evangelical conservative base for decades now, and we've never gotten upset about it before. I'm actually to the point that I expect it. Palin has executive experience, she's got conservative street cred without being a party tool -- shoot, I'd vote for her for President at this point.

I'm really thinking that the GOP may be positioning her to run against Hillary in 2012 if things don't work in their favor in November.

Again POLITICS=Pandering!

Look I actually feel that the GOP pandering to the right is WAY overdue since Reagan.

GO - McCain/Palin

This also was a shot to try to get some of the disenfranchised Reps who defected to Paul's, the Constitution Party's or Libertarian Party's campaign. If you watch some of her Alaskan campaign videos and read her rhetoric, it has similar overtures to Paul. Plus, she is one of the few Reps to actually give Paul some respect. (If she can keep her independent spirit while riding the ticket, perhaps she can influence the party back toward its traditional roots.)

I do have to say that this had the staunch, entrenched dems (former Hillary supporters) at my office absolutely freaking out today...it was pretty amusing to watch the hardcore Reps at my office basking in the glow of the moment after enduring the merciless lovefest and play-by-play analysis each morning this week from the hardcore Dems in the office.

http://tiny.cc/4Q95q Talks energy, and a small nod to Paul
Back in February, on Super Tuesday, MTV News Street Teamer Dani Carlson did a Flixwagon interview with Alaska Governor — and now presumptive Republican vice-presidential candidate — Sarah Palin, who had some interesting things to say about energy policy and the “party machinery.”

In this interview, Palin calls controversial Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul “cool.” “He’s a good guy,” she added. “He’s so independent. He’s independent of the party machine. I’m like, ‘Right on, so am I.’ ”

http://tiny.cc/YPklt WSJ Personal Profile on Palin...Article talks about her lifestyle and health/work balance.
Gov. Sarah Palin has always been a runner. Her parents were marathoners and high school track and cross-country coaches...

She and her husband, Todd, also an athlete, named their first son Track because he was born in that sport's season...

Workout gear

"My ideal fantasy is to be running on a hot dusty road just wearing running shorts and some kind of top that wicks away sweat. But in reality I'm running in 20-below temperatures, so I wear layers of fleece and always a good outdoor waterproof trail shoe. Right now I've been running in Nike Air Structure Triax. And I always wear sunglasses. My kids tell me to put them on so I don't freak people out when they see me with a goofy hairdo and no makeup."

Workout pitfall

"Being pregnant every few years. If I get lazy and go weeks or months without exercising it's not because of circumstances but because I'm being less disciplined. Shame on me."

FIFY...He looked extremely nervous there right after he introduced her while she was speaking in a "holy crap, I hope they were right and this works" kind of way. He shouldn't be nervous, she actually is a better and more dynamic speaker than he is.

This kind of stuff is why Democrats don't do well in national elections. The GOP is just outplaying them again on the national stage. Not only did this pick energize the GOP base, it took Obama's "history making" speech nearly off the radar!

These next few months are going to be fun. I was really dreading them up until about 24 hours ago!

I live in Denver and there isn't much talk at all about Obama's speach the other night. It's all about Palin. Timing is everything!

...YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME...so I can understand it and appreciate it, even if I am not currently happy about it. This almost has Karl Rove's handprints all over it.
Rove was pushing Romney real hard. I doubt he engineered Palin.
I doubt it too. On the other side, Obama picking Biden was straight out of the Rove/Bush playbook.

During the Reagan years, it wasn't pandering. The people in charge agreed with us, and were working toward the same ends as we were. Now, they kiss up to us every four years or so and forget about us the rest of the time.

Some of the things Kaine has said during this whole vice-president thing have been completely idiotic. Did this guy win the governorship by not talking? I can't remember.
I've always thought that Kaine was a dweeb, but my thoughts were confirmed over the past week. Why the Dems put him in the national spotlight, we'll never know, but I doubt that all the coddling up to him will help win VA in Nov. They would have done better to focus on Mark Warner, as he seems to be much more popular here.
