Dude, if your chancellor said, "Here's an ATV, there are the woods, have fun," what are you going to do? Add in the fact that it was muddy, and it was a good time.

Let's look at this. In the space of three weeks, Jon has acquired
  • ~ a big box of super-cool shirts from the, apparently, super-cool basketball coach
    ~ a super-cool girlfriend
~ an invite to a Super Bowl part at the, apparently, super-cool Chancellor's house
    ~ a super-cool ride on said super-cool Chancellor's super-cool ATV
Dude, this may be the best month of your entire life. I'm just curious to know the length of the contract that you've clearly signed with the Devil himself.

I saw you once the entire night until Eli through the TD, and we'd been there four hours.

That was the one and only time I saw you.

I had to text you from the doorway of the room with the big projector because I couldn't figure out where you were.

after he was done boiling all 10 ribs i looked into the pot....there was all the flavor just sitting there...the ribs were white..

i'm not a firm believer that good ribs have to be smoked, i think its the best way but not everyone has a smoker or sometimes its just too darn cold out..

what i have done sometimes is take out my roaster pan that has a grate, put water and liquid smoke in the bottom of the pan and then roast them ribs in the oven for about 6 hours at 225.

Truth be told, I usually roast my ribs in the oven for about two hours before I take them to the grill.

i would do it the other way around to be honest...throw some wood on the coals or on the burners, get a little smokyness in them....after an hour so of that, they'll be a little smoky and then finish them off in the oven at low temps...

truth be told after a certain amount of time, the smoke doesnt' do anything for the meat, its the first few hours that take care of it, i've finished butts and briskets off in the oven for up to 4 hours before...never have noticed a difference...

IronWorks is OK and some people swear by it, but IMHO there are a number of better BBQ joints in the Austin area (Badger can add his opinion as well). I enjoy the County Line on the Hill (http://www.austincityguide.com/content/ ... aurant.asp) off Bee Caves Road (about 15 minutes from downtown non-rush hour). It has great views overlooking Barton Creek. Their specialty is their ribs ... babybacks and beef.

The most famous place for 'cue is the Salt Lick (http://www.saltlickbbq.com/)down in Driftwood. Its about a 25-minute drive from downtown and is BYOB since it is a dry county. The best barbecue is out of town in places like Lockhart, Taylor and Llano. But the two I have mentioned are worth trying if you haven't already and both are fun atmosphere if you are hanging with colleagues.

I could go on and on about Austin eateries. But the others you suggested are all top shelf. But whatever you do, do not let anyone convince you that you need to go to Matt's El Rancho. They claim it is the World's Best Mexican Food. It is the easily the worst I've ever partaken and I consider myself a connoiseur of TexMex. If the suggest Gueros then you should not decline.
