Loved seeing Kate Austin beat up the federal marshall. That's one tough girl.

One thing we noticed- When they flashed to the plane/airport scenes, there was a different sound than they used for the flashbacks/forwards. My guess is that all of this stuff is happening at the same time. (Maybe that was completely obvious to everyone else, but whatever.)

Waaaaay too many commercials that first hour. Every time things started to get going it went to commercial. The 2nd hour was much better with a regular amount. So Sayid is the new Jacob right?

yeah. It's a parallel time line. It was identical to the original flight and everybody met each other. I don't understand why Desmond was on the plane, but I do know that he obviously wouldn't be on the island since the swan was never created. They also seemed to make a big deal about him not being there when Jack got back from the bathroom.

I wonder if Charlie being brought back to life and Juliet dying is directly connected or if they were just being artsy showing 2 opposites happening at once.

Yeah, that was bad, the whole island underwater scene was just horrible effects. They must have blown their budget on building the sets and fake blood.

Also, speaking about the differences on the plane, why wasn't Shannon there with Boone? Or Michael/Walt?

Contract disputes is my guess.

I don't think Walt can ever be on the show again. Which most likely means we'll never get answers on why he was so special. He'll always be on those anytizers commercials though.

EW: The whole idea of flash-sideways and the plan to use season 6 to show us a world where Oceanic 815 never crashed — how long has that been in the works? Why did you want to do it?

LINDELOF: Right out of the gate, in the first five minutes of the premiere, you get hit over the head with two things that you’re not expecting. The first is that Desmond is on the plane. The second thing that we do is we drop out of the plane and we go below the water and we see that the Island is submerged. What we’re trying to do there is basically say to you, “God bless the survivors of Oceanic 815, because they’re so self-centered, they thought the only effect [of detonating the bomb] was going to be that their plane never crashes.” But they don’t stop to think, “If we do this in 1977, what else is going to affected by this?” So that their entire lives can be changed radically. In fact, it would appear that they’ve sunken the Island. That’s our way of saying, “Keep your eyes peeled for the differences that you’re not expecting.” Some of these characters were still in Australia, but some weren’t. Shannon’s not there. Boone actually says that he tried to get her back. There are all sorts of other people that we don’t see. Where’s Libby? Where’s Ana Lucia? Where’s Eko? These are all the things that you’re supposed to be thinking about. When our characters posited the “What if?” scenario, they neglected to think about what the other effects of potentially changing time might be and we’re embracing those things.

I just read that article as well...very good read.

One thing I saw about Shannon...Maggie Grace did not want to come back; therefore they had to "change" her story in that she did not want to come back with Boone.

Yeah, yeah. I know. Some advice. 1. Don't think TOO hard. 2. Be patient. 3. Watch The Biggest Loser Instead.

Actually, the 'LAX' airport and plane scenes are taking place on September 22, 2004 (or thereabouts; things get a little hazy when you cross the IDL), the original flight date of Oceanic 815. The island events are taking place three years later, in 2007.

Don't worry, they'll do something to change your mind. Although, with them having such a limited amount of shows remaining, they really can't afford to have any more poor episodes. I think last night's was really just to keep the story progressing.

By the way, I believe I called the "Claire is the next Rousseau" storyline.

It's funny. This is the last season, and I have such a sense of urgency for them to start giving answers with such a limited amount of time. But they don't seem to be in a hurry at all. I guess you've got to trust that they know where everything will end up and let them build to it. If you think about it though, Kate episodes are always terrible.

One thing that's getting a little difficult to deal with is that keeping us in the dark is just such a distraction. The characters are asking the same questions we are and they just deal with not getting answers. Nobody on earth would just keep doing things blindly every single time for the last 6 seasons. It's just getting more and more difficult to ignore that aspect of the show.

This episode was definitely a "meh" and I am still trying to figure out what Kate does....

One thing I read in the last couple of days I found interesting. The reason that the Temple Master says that it is so important for those in the temple (Sawyer, Jack, Hurley etc. to stay alive is that it is somehow connected to the people that Jacob actually touched off the island. That had to be the reason their names were on the list that was in the symbol thing.

thats exactly what i'm talking about....last night jack is still all anal about everything....at some point in time, he has to be like "eff it i don't care, give him the stupid pill, i'm just going to sit here and see what happens....i'm done..." but no he's all "whats in this pill....i'm gonna take it blah blah balh"

yeah, that was kind of a lame preview. I saw a list of the first 9 episodes and their rankings based on people that had already seen them and it goes like this
Episode 6.09 - 9.60
Episode 6.07 - 9.25
Episode 6.04 - 9.10
Episode 6.01/6.02 -9.00
Episode 6.05 - 8.75
Episode 6.06 - 8.40
Episode 6.08 - 7.10
Episode 6.03 - 6.70
and so far, it's been spot on. The season premier(s) were awesome. The kate episode was horrid. Last weeks was awesome and this week's was ok. So it looks like next week will be slightly less ok than this week's. So based on that, I don't think we're gonna get answers. People tend to love the episodes where we get answers.

there were 2 scenes that ticked me off....

scene 1 : hurley: what if we flashed back to dinosaur time and these people ARE ACTUALLY US!!!!

scene 2 : why haven't we seen this before (the lighthouse) hurley : i guess we weren't looking for it.

Have you seen the Hitler takes on Lost video on Youtube? It's pretty awesome. I'd put it on here, but there's a lot of swearing in the subtitles.
