Of those on the list I certainly have X-Men, Star Trek, Harry Potter and GI Joe as the ones Im definitely going to see (I was a HUGE GI Joe fan growing up)

I'm going to throw in a huge caveat here:

The GI Joe movie will suck and will suck royally. After watching the trailer, I expect it to be of equal or lesser quality than The Punisher -- the Dolph Lundgren version.

I'm still watching it though.

roflol

I thought that storyline from Control Alt Delete was pretty well done. People got mad because he tried to have actual character development in a gamer comic, and the criticism went viral.

To tide people over until The Hobbit comes out in a few years, this year will be the online-only fan-made movie "The Hunt for Gollum".
http://www.thehuntforgollum.com/trailers.htm

Supposedly it was made for almost no money ($3000?), is 45 minutes, and will be a free download. It actually looks well done, and may be worth the hour of time spent watching it.

Thankfully my wife is planning on taking our daughter to the matinee that day. I can barely stand the 22 minutes of Hannah that we get to watch now -- what would I do for a whole movie??

from what i've read, the hobbit will be 2 parts. but 1 will revolve around the hobbit story and the rest will revolve around the inbetween parts.

this movie takes place during the lotr.

there are so many epic movies that could be made from tolkeins stories and hopefully a successful hobbit will spur them on the make them.

I'm not a trekkie (and I'm the second person to start a post like this), but I really did enjoy the new Star Trek film. It's definitely worth the $5 i paid for a matinee showing. And probably the $10 that I'll pay to see it again, this time in IMAX.

I am a bit of a Trek nerd (shocker) and I loved it.

Might go see it for a second time tonight.
