oh stop. Richmond had the highest murder rate at one point and I've been in some less than savory sections of that city without a gun. I'm still alive.

sorry bro, but this position proves you need to leave lynchburg more.....i know your from the north and you should know better. A lot of major cities in the US could give you good reason for packing.....
you beat me to it, Rocket.

In all seriousness, LUconn- you'd better not hang out in most parts of Allentown, Reading, or Philly- not to mention Camden or Newark.

And that's NOT a slam on blacks , hispanics or minorities in general- just the truth behind the numbers IN THOSE PARTICULAR CITIES.

Baltimore aint far behind.

Richmond can't even be mentioned in the same breath as real cities.

you wouldn't believe what a hell hole that town has turned into over the last 2 yrs.

200 cops on the street and they really need 400.

16 murders in '06, 21 last year and on track for approx 30 homicides annually now. OVER national averages for all violent crimes other than Agg. Assault.

Tues AM (0330) a guy having breakfast with his wife get his door kicked in and shot in the face. Dead.

2nd murder in 2 weeks.

I've had a couple pt's that were shot in the face- one guy lived. One guy died after about 20 minutes, probably because he blew the lower part of his jaw off. That's not real good.

And yeah- its gotten to that point. I'd be glad to drive you around :D

in general, society has very little regard for life.

you've got 20 bucks and a guy wants it- you're dead.

don't get me started on the infiltration of groups like MS13, the Latin Kings, and others.

I'm bringing this thread back...

In light of the Tiller assassination and the Holocaust Memorial shootings...

I advocate that someone with a history of mental problems (the former) and a criminal record (the latter) should never be allowed to own guns.

I understand that criminals have a way of getting their hands on guns through illegal methods. Therefore, I also believe that every gun manufactured should be registered and easily traced. Once the feds can no longer trace a sale or transfer of a gun used in a crime, the person who last possessed the gun should be held responsible.

I don't know. The government having a database of every individual's gun inventory? Sounds like a good way to get yourself on a terror watch list.

not individual's guns, individual guns.

(warning! Ed is about to employ the 'two straw men' rhetorical device that Obama often employs!)

There are those who say that we should get rid of all guns and beat them into plowshares, and we will subsequently eliminate all crime from ever occurring if we can do just that.

Then there are those who say we should never restrict the sale of a gun, or pass any law that will slow down the sale of a gun. If some crazed Jew-hating convicted felon wants to buy a shotgun at the local 7-11, they say we should give him the gun and congratulate him for being a true 2nd Amendment American.

I, of course, know that guns stop crime. I know that gun crimes went up in areas that banned guns! I also know that if you ban guns, only outlaws will have guns. So my question is, how do you stop outlaws from having guns without infringing upon the right to own guns for law-abidign citizens?

I am not advocating taking away anyone's guns. I am not advocating banning gun sales. I am not saying gun owners should be on terror watch lists. I am saying that we should (buzzword coming up!) exercise better control over guns.

I would like to see a way that we can slow, if not stop, the black market sale of guns. The first step is to know where the guns are going.

Also, anyone on here been to the LU shooting range? I heard it's open to students and faculty/staff - but you have to take a safety class through LUPD first.

Southie really isn't as bad as it is made out to be. And St. Patrick's day in Southie is pretty fun. It used to be bad. Right now Roxbury and Dorchester are the neighborhoods to stay away from. It just changes as the location of the lower class is and who the lower class is, that is it used to be the Irish in Boston.

I might be buying this in a few weeks. Ruger 380 for $299

http://www.impactguns.com/store/736676037018.html
Thats a great price. Gun shows sell these guys for $350-400

Dont let buying over the internet scare you...it's simple...have them ship it (they will do it for you) to a FFA dealer (I use L Opplomen downtown) and then get it from them. They do all the paperwork for you and I think you have to pay a $30 FFA fee.

Ruger LCP 380 is a good little gun, designed like the Kel Tec but more refined. Only problem with these guns is finding .380 ammo.
