Am I the only person on the board that likes country?
No...I've been to several Keith Urban concerts. He puts on a great show.

I usually have to sit through the majority of a country set at rodeo every year. I try not to remember many the names. I also saw a few pickers & grinners at Austin City Limits back in the day but the experience of being there superseded the artist.

I'd love to live near something like Austin City Limits, they get amazing acts.

AZ I can only hope this was corrected b/c you lost SERIOUS Metallica Cred points. That would be the Whereevern I May Roam tour. Geez!! I saw thme in Roanoke as well, good floor seats, liked the way the stage rotated but you could tell when the concert would be over when the band members rotated all the way around!! For the record, Godsmacked SUCKED!

Off the top of my head concerts:

Degarmo and Key - Had to throw you off there, but I wanted to start Religious and I had what could be called a religous experience post concert!
Petra - Computer Brains and More Power too Ya. "Judas Kiss" a great 80's Xian rock tune!
Steve Taylor - Staying with the early theme
Resurrection Band - 5x's on the record as greatest R and R voice EVER
Stryper - I love the 80's
Phil Keaggy - See I am not a TOTAL heathen
Tom Jones - Top 5 concert, seriously
Wayne Newton - Hey, he is from Roanoke area
Metallica - 6 x's given the finger by Jason in Chicago.
Ozzy - Metallica opened for him on the Ultimate Sin tour (They were doing.... And Justice for all)
GnR - Summer tour with Metallica. Axl is a weiner, but loved the music
The Police - 2x's in the last 12 months, Wrigley and C'ville
AC/DC - the famous "mooning" incident
Nazareth/38 Special/April Wine tour
Aerosmith - Pre and Post rehab
Rush - And don't say a word!! or you will find yourself on a Train to Bangkok!
Journey
Genesis
The Fixx
.... and I am sure many more
Van Halen/Hagar - We konw where I stand there!

I would love to live within driving distance of ACL as well. The wife and I were considering a relocation recently and I actually looked into Austin because of the live music scene. If it weren't so far away it might have been a viable option. The wife basically decided that if we were moving anywhere it would have to be close to the beach...

Yeah, Austin is about 3-3.5 hours from both Galveston & Padre/Mustang Island beaches. But I don't think you want me to start extolling the virtues of Austin.

I stand corrected. I saw them on the “S**t Hits the Sheds” Tour. There was the “Nowhere Else to Roam” tour and that wrapped up shortly before they started this one. Strange, as I bought the “Nowhere Else to Roam” shirt there. The big tour was the “Wherever We May Roam”.

I’ll take a ding on this one. Besides, Metallica has lost the most Metallica cred points.

I'll finish up my BS in Finance in December so I need to be some place with a good job market. I will have about 2 years experience in banking at that point but only entry level (teller) which can cause some issues as well. Everything I've read/heard about getting a decent finance job requires multiple years of experience. My wife is a special education teacher so that's about as good as gold anywhere we want to go. I've been in NC my whole life outside the years in Lynchburg and 6 months in SW Florida so I might be ready for a change. I know I'm opening the floodgates here...could you tell me what's so great about Austin?

Pearl Jam will definitely join that list after Bonnaroo. I've never been able to see them live up to this point. I was in Florida when they were in DC in 2006 and missed out on Greensboro while I was in college...

You should get a ticket to the Columbia show too. The Columbia show will be my 3rd PJ show.

The best concert I ever went to was the Pearl Jam show in Charlotte, NC in 2000. Sonic Youth opened and both SY and PJ were great that night. Runner up would have to be the Phantom Planet/Incubus show in 2001.

The Columbia show is on June 16th which is the day I'll be heading back home from Bonnaroo. I'm pretty sure I'll be way too tired to hit another show that night then head to work the next morning. Too bad they aren't hitting somewhere a little closer for me later that week.

Bonnaroo was amazing. It was an experience like no other. I didn't see nearly as many bands as I would have wanted to but it was still amazing. The highlights of the week for me were Pearl Jam, the Raconteurs and Back Door Slam. My biggest regret of the week was falling asleep and turning off my alarm clock before the My Morning Jacket late night show. I don't know if I would recommend the festival to most on this board due to the huge amounts of illegal substances being used in broad daylight but if you have an open mind it can be a great time. I can't wait to go back next year.

I was there for the Kanye debacle. My brother and I said we'd give it a shot even though we don't like Kanye. The crowd became pretty unruly after he was 30 minutes late. It was pretty ridiculous for him to go on at 4:30 in the morning when he was scheduled for 2:45. We left about halfway through it and the sun was already shining. The crowd was chanting "Kanye Sucks!" among other things. He never addressed the crowd or apologized for being late. We had heard his show was supposed to be amazing but it seemed very cheesy. It reminded me of Michael Jackson's Captain EO show at Disney in the late 80's. Kanye is a joke.
