Yep. That sounds like a solid plan.

My comment about 720p being obsolete has more to do with technology that has yet to be released than what we have right now. And yes I was using some hyperbole.

Another factor mentioned in the original posts was the entertainment center. Those are indeed becoming obsolete. I am just about ready to dump mine. If you hang a flat panel on the wall and have shelf space somewhere in the same room you should be able to ditch the space wasting furniture. Technology is moving forward by leaps & bounds.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=6528883 That is very similar to my current entertainment center in terms of setup, of course mine is a little bigger since mine accomodates up to 32" while that onlyaccomodates up to 27". It holds all my dvds, cds, and video game stuff all in one convenient place and it just looks nice. The only wasted space is the space above the TV, which is even less that in that picture, so I dont see where you can say entertainment centers are space wasting??

my wife appently can't tell the difference between analog and HD....

"what? it looks the same?"

"what? that is so much better!" as i flip to analog cbs (which is worse on an plasma/lcd than on tube) then back to cbs HD...

"it looks the same"

"WAT?"

I'm dead serious when I say this. My wife was the same exact way... and then she got glasses. Maybe yours needs to have her prescription redone.

she did however notice switch from analog to digital optical sound....

anytime i'm watching sports, my rear surround speaker is by the stairs and she swears she hears the baby crying and will sprint upstairs...

its my way of helping her lose the belly she got from the baby....do i get thanks? of course not..

Great chart, LUconn. I saw that somewhere before. Where'd it come from? Anyway, I haven't met a lot of people that understand the importance of getting the right size TV for their room. Everyone just wants big.
