Well as anyone who knows me is aware, Ive been in Lynchburg for quite a while...and as much as I love being here and the many relationships and friendships Ive made, I cant stay here forever. Im in need of prayer as to where I will move on to next. I have a few places in mind: Charlotte, NC...Lansing, MI (Detroit is still downright scary)...Allentown, PA... and Houston, TX (that's Sly's country) are my top options right now. Im asking for prayer for two things: 1) Wisdom as to where I should go and 2) being able to find solid employment once I get there. Im thinking the earliest Id be heading out to wherever I end up going is mid-July (to give me time to get in touch with people I know there so that I can have a place to stay while I get settled and get started working

Or a better question come up with the process of picking a place to live before a job. Shouldnt you find a job in a location you desire THEN move?

Find a job first and then go there... You will have many more options that way...

Charlotte is a big one because of the launch of UNCC's football program and Im very interested in doing play by play there. Ive been in touch with the AD and the person in charge of the hiring process (which they wont really be starting until May). In the smaller locales (like Allentown and Lansing) my best bet would be doing mostly local stuff for the radio (like HS football, baseball and basketball like Im doing now). Its a big decision for me that is for sure

Each of those locales I have personal connections who can help me with getting in touch with the right people for either employment, short term housing or both.

Here is a state you may want to check out, you can do play by play there. Just find some warm clothing

Ive been doing some thinking about that and after talking to some people very close to me (including Dr Wheeler...who did an amazing job in convo today might I add) and they all seem to notice that my passion is more geared toward broadcasting and that I should go after that. My dream job has always been to work for ESPN (opinions of others...particularly on this board...notwithstanding)

Dream job? Where have I heard that before? I think they should make a TV show where people compete for their dream job................................... or maybe they shouldn't

Look...all joking aside...I have always wanted to work at ESPN. When I decided I wanted to be a sports broadcaster, that was my target. You can hate them all you want but that has been my dream and if you dont like it then that is your prerogative.

BJ follow your dreams. Even if you may not make that dream come true, at least when you get older and that will happen, you can look back and have no regrets for trying. Better to try and fail, then to never try and wonder what if.

Fall of 2002 over at David's Place...We were watching the Little League World Series on one of the big screens there (or maybe it was the regionals) I spontaneously started calling the game we were watching and you introduced yourself (or maybe it was me who introduced first)

This reminds me a little of an old college dorm mate of mine 30 years ago at Tenn. Temple. Ed Woodard told everyone that his "dream job" would be being a broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds.

Well, Ed is there, living in Cincinnati...working...as the assistant manager at Burger King.

BJ, I hope your dream job turns out better than his.

BJ, from someone who knows everything, here is my advice:

Find a job then move. BUT if you are going to spin the globe and finger your next destination, I strongly suggest you go SOUTH as opposed to NORTH. Living as a homeless person for a week is much easier in let's say Tampa as opposed to Pennsylvania or MICHIGAN. Especially in the winter.

I wouldn't choose tampa though BJ...you will have way too much competition for an intersection to beg at...haha

but serious BJ get a job THEN move...

Yeah but they get newspapers to sell in the winter and waters to sell in the summer. It's like having room and board paid for.
