Many of you know that my wife works at Target. Well, the store manager, who she reports to, has told her over the past month that the company will be making layoffs in the near future. There were no certainty’s about who and when. Today she found out it is going to be worse than originally feared, and there will be a press release tomorrow. Please keep us and others affected in prayer.

Not good if you live in Minnesota I guess, but okay for Lynchburg.
That's not true, trust me

No Scorch.....you buy on bad news and sell on good news. Just dollar cost average on the purchase.

The press release came out sometime this morning; however, it is not 100% accurate. The way it makes it out is that no one from any stores is getting the boot, but that is incorrect. There are around 50 who will be getting laid off just in the Richmond area stores alone. Still no word on who though.

Hope you didn't -- TGT is up 5% today. Wall Street seems to be thinking that cutting back on staff is a responsible thing in a tough retail environment. Of course, Wall Street doesn't talk to the people getting laid off -- they sleep better at night thinking it's just numbers.

Praying for you guys, mason.

Manson, I hope that your wife is left standing after cuts are made.

People losing jobs is very unfortunate and may continue to be commonplace over the next year or two. However, I do not like the general tone of class warfare that is prevalent in our country right now. Wall Street is a market that buys/sells public stocks based on numbers. Public companies stock prices are based on these numbers, not people. Stock is owned by people, not companies. These stockholders include anyone that chooses to buy the stock (regardless of their class). Our capitalist society, despite the current turmoil and the of socialist/communist thoughts uttered by ignorant people, is still the envy of the world. In a capitalist society, one may be down and out today, but there is opportunity to rise above a current situation without limits.

My apologies for turning a request thread into a rant.

Yeah, yeah. I was making a bad joke when I should have been noting that I was indeed praying for jcmanson and fam. Poor taste on my part. I apologize and please know I'm praying for you and yours, jcmanson.

To keep it brief: My wife was given the opportunity to keep the same position she has, but with less help and more responsibility. After lots of thought and prayer, she voluntarily stepped down from her position, and accepted another position with less pay, but much less stress and better hours. There is no price tag for peace and enjoyment. Thanks for the prayers.
