To the left: Check your Inbox. Speaking of Tampa, my brother's HS football team played Carrol (sp?) Day School from Tampa this past Saturday at our place in Merritt Island. I was suprised to see John Gruden as an assistant coach on their sideline, but then realized his son was the QB. I was suprised to see him walking the sidelines with his Steve Spurrier visor on our little small field that is surrounded by a swamp on three sides. I guess things are tough for him as well. Is he still with MNF?

He got a nice raise to stay w/ MNF this year. Nothing is tough for him right now -- just have the free time to help coach his son. Sounds like a pretty good gig to me!

I've thrown your name in the USL hat plenty of times.....they haven't even started interviews for a position which was supposed to start today.

Then again, I don't know if it's worth it to try to live off $800 a month....rent is $550 alone haha.

Well, I have a place to live for free in Tampa. So that wouldn't be an issue.

Still nothing. Most promising set of interviews yet fell through today, so now I am back to square one. This is really frustrating and disheartening. Keep me in your prayers guys, I need it. Especially when my own faith about the situation continues to dwindle.

Make sure to keep in contact with your network. It is literally the reason why I got the job I have now. I was just talking to my current boss (who, at the time, was an acquaintance) one day and he said he needed to hire an assistant.

When it comes down to it the Army is always available. Air force might be looking for officers too. If you joined then GO OFFICER! DON'T ENLIST! The pay is much better. Plus the Military will pay for ALL of the schooling you want. There are non-deployable jobs in the military you've just got to figure which ones there are. Military life really is good if you get a job you enjoy. Free housing, no utility bills, discounts all over the place, and officer pay is insane after you're in a few years. It's not for everyone, I'm in the National Guard and am getting out after my contract is up. What did you get your undergrad in by the way? If you want to get in the Masters in Sports Management they dropped the 30 hrs of SMGT requirement and still require a 3.0 gpa BUT it can be waived. I know because I don't have a 3.0 or 30 hrs of SMGT classes but I got it waived. AND if you're military and an online student tuition for Masters is only $250 a credit hr 8) If you want more info on anything I talked about let me know.

By the way I really want to be a coach at either football or baseball or both obviously starting at the high school or maybe even the middle school level. If you have more info on that on requirements or anything let me know :)

BJWilliams is the man to ask about this. He applied for the Presbyterian football job a few year back. I heard he had quite the resume too. Not sure why Presby said no... :dontgetit

Sounds good. When the time comes (December-January) BJ can expect a PM from me for advice on my resume, get my foot in the door, etc... 8)

I think it was my lack of experience in coaching...(i.e. none) but nothing says you cant ask around...Im sure that there are schools that would let you observe and help at practices the rest of the year and then maybe turn that into something for 2011.

I know I have to start at the bottom. which means helping out with high school practices (unpaid) or maybe even middle school practices (unpaid). but it's what I want to do and I'm willing to do it 8)

There are non deployable jobs and you can skip the enlisting route? Hmm...

Honestly if you want to be living the good life, join the Air Force (if you can get in). They have it so good they're having to turn people away and kick them out if they aren't top notch "airmen." From what I hear MOST jobs deployments are only 6 months long IF THAT! I was deployed a year and I held a grudge against everyone in the airforce because I watched them come and go. Then I realized it's my fault for not being smart enough to join the airforce instead of the army national guard haha. I still may try to join the Air Force I'm undecided. If I can get into a career outside of the Military I'm going for it. There are jobs out there that are non-deployable and there are those that are deployable but are UNLIKELY to get deployed in. Do some research and look around and you'll see what your best options are :)

I won't complain that is for sure. Compared to what you all do its nothing. With that said deployments will continue to get longer and there is talk already about extending our time deployed. The Army is just stretched too thin.

But yes. Its true they are "shape forcing" the air force, but I haven't seen much come from that. Most of the people that have gotten out just said they wanted out and they let them out.

Ha I wish I could just say I want out and then get out...My bro just finished air force boot camp a couple months ago and 1/3 of his class was kicked out of the air force for not passing ONE written test while they were there. It was insane. He said they were dropping like fly's.

I have heard a lot of stories like that, I just haven't known anybody its happened to. The force shaping is good and bad..it does get rid of those that can't cut it, but at the same time puts a heavier workload on everybody else

Well I just got my first and only real callback from an application so far.

She asked me to walk her through some slightly advanced (more than just making formulas) Excel stuff.

I bombed and couldn't remember anything. :(

Really frustrating and disheartening. It's just been so long since I actually had to do anything with Excel that I couldn't recall it all without actually doing it.

Keep praying for me guys, this is really wearing on me.
