Our church, like every church, isn't immune to the money issues that are going around currently. In order to be open and honest, we sent out a 3-page letter about two weeks ago explaining where we currently were in our finances and a breakdown of just what exactly we spend our money on. There were no requests for more money or begging for groups to cut their spending. Just in the interest of integrity, a breakdown.
About a week after that happened we received an anonymous letter. Now, usually, the policy is if you don't sign your name, it goes right in the trash. However, this time, it was addressed to several people in the church so we couldn't just disregard it.
Naturally, the first "suggestion" of getting our finances back on track was to cut me. It wasn't just an attack on the position but an attack on my work ethic and character. I'm trying hard not to take it personal and be angry over it, especially because there isn't a thing I can do about it. I'm asking that you'll pray for us as a church, while we deal with this kind of "back door" dealings (I'm confident this isn't the last we've heard of these "issues") and two, that I'll continue to do what God's called me to do.
