Anyone travel to Baltimore from Lynchburg? I am trying to figure the best route. I heard someone say 29 to 64 to 95 but I figured going 29 would be the easiest. Any recommendations?

I am a DC Native so I can give you some good info. The best way is 29 North to I-66. Take I-66 East to the Beltway. Follow the Beltway North until it merges with I-95 North. Follw 95 North to Baltimore.

I would strongly avoid you being on 66 and the Beltway between 7 and 9 am and 5 and 7pm Mon-Fri. Rush hour traffic is awful.

When you get near Culpeper, VA, turn your radio to WTOP 103.5 FM for traffic every 10 minutes. WTOP is our News, traffic, weather, sports station.

If you have any other Q's ask.

I'll be making that trip as well in a couple of weeks with a stop along the mall in DC. The way absturgill described is how I took a couple of years ago when I made the trip.

OK. To get to BWI, follow the directions I gave you, except on the Beltway towards Baltimore, take the exit for the B/W Parkway North towards Baltimore. Follow the BW PKWY and you will see signs for the airport. Getting from BWI to Alexandria, follow the BW PWKY South the the Beltway and take the Beltway towards Richmond, over the Wilson Bridge to Alexandria. This is the Best way. If you are daring take the BW Parkway South and follow the signs for I295/I395, this will take you along the Southeast Southwest Freeway. The last option is if you are familiar with the area or like taking an adventure. It is really wasy to get lost the 2nd route

Any other Q's.

When I lived in Leesburg I would go to Baltimore via Rt 15 to Frederick Maryland (They have Rita's Water Ice there too for you guys from PA and NJ that know what that is). You can pick up rt 15 north in Gainsville and take it all the way to Frederick MD, then take I70 to 695 around the Beltway in Baltimore in either direction to get to the airport. I don't think that is a good way anymore because of sprawl. Rt 15 is a 1 lane road which was ok a few years ago but now there are so many people living off of it that there is always traffic. Listen to Brett's way. Just giving you another option.

Hey SCAR, good to talk to you again. Yeah, I've done Rt. 15 a few times to avoid 66 and it can de difficult espically at rush hour. Good to hear from you.
