It opened today on Lakeside, and it seemed like all of Lynchburg was there all day. I bought a meat loaf and some dill cucumber salad, and got Mrs. Cider some Godiva chocolates, sweet potato chips, and gourmet jelly beans. And I sampled some of their salmon and drank a little sample cup of their pumpkin-spiced coffee.

And it was great seeing one of my Quiz Bowl alumni working there! Who else was there today?

My wife was at Trader Joe's in Cville today; I guess that doesn't count.

More people were actually eating the samples than buying things today, I'm convinced.

Also, as I tweeted, very gross to watch people just dipping their hands into the bulk food bins and taking samples. Gross. Be civilized. Use the scoop. Or even better, try buying the food.

Found some things I liked. A lot of the staples are very overpriced, so I think I'll mix and match between FM and Kroger. I don't need to pay $4 for a loaf of bread. The produce and the selection of pre-made salads and pizzas in the deli area are worth going in for.

I actually needed a gallon of milk and had thought about stopping there on the way home since I go right by it. I sure was glad I went to Walmart before after I saw the parking lot. I can wait awhile before checking the place out.
