Seems like they had to go to some rather liberal stretching to fill out these categories...

The three "Best Tourist Attraction" winners aren't even in Lynchburg. That doesn't speak very highly of the actual city of Lynchburg as a tourist spot regardless of what the idiots in the city government want everyone to believe.

And Buggs Island Lake sits on the border between VA and NC. That's not even in a neighboring county and Google Maps says it's 2 hours from Lynchburg! I'm sure Apple Maps has the lake located in China or something like that.

And Greenfront 2nd best furniture store? That place is in Farmville, as noted on the page, which isn't even in the same MSA as Lynchburg (it's part of the Richmond MSA)!

Luconn - appreciate the extra pub for LL.

First, we don't handle results at all. Don't want to ever be in that place where people think we stuff the box, that's not good for the integrity of "best of". I was surprised we won best dessert - think that is a product of a weird category - who really is a dessert provider in is town? Frozen dessert - doesn't surprise me about sweet frog. They are the most well known foryo place and hopefully we can change that soon. I will tell you - bloop is better ;). It is better yogurt and they know it - they copy everything we do - yogurt for a year, guess the weight, one price cup, etc... Big news coming in march ;)

We provide the catatories and poeple write in answers. We simply provide the results. Some are very weird, but remember we do not restrict companies on stuffing the box - you can see from the results who puts more effort in getting people to vote;)

Tourism - lynchburg tourism is not necessarily on what is in city limits. Biggest tourist attractions in this area are d-day, Appomattox, SML, Blue Ridge Parkway, etc..., but where do peolple stay? In Lynchburg.... They come here for those and stay in hotels and eat at restaurants.

The rigged thought had crossed my mind when I saw Bloop winning 1st in best dessert. And then I noticed a 2nd place finish in best frozen dessert which put that to rest. And then I was trying to reconcile the 2 and I just can't seem to do it.

On a side note, I think my anniversary gift this year will be a trip for my wife to pick out a fancy dress at a top 3 clothing boutique in town, called Goodwill. Then she can wear it for an elegant evening at the Red Lobster. Maybe we'll swing by Sweet Frog after, who knows? Certainly an evening to remember.

Sounds like a fast track for a divorce :). Unless that is you are being serious with that because she'd like it.

I'm there every memorial day, veterans day, and a week in the summer. It's like swimming in bath water in the summer. I love it. Good fishing if you know where to go from what I'm told.

Hey proto, is there any way of knowing how many votes the winners got or like an average for the winners?

We don't even handle the votes in house, but I think they give us the results with numbers. I'll check.
