Filmmakers and Liberty University students gathered Saturday morning to dedicate the college’s new film program.
“We’re excited about the future of our cinematic arts program,” LU Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. said. “It’s going to be fun to watch.”
Officials have named the school the Zaki Gordon Cinematic Arts Program after the late son of Dan Gordon.
Dan Gordon is a Hollywood screenwriter who has worked on movies such as “Wyatt Earp” and “The Hurricane.” In one of their last conversations, Gordon said he and his son, who died in a car wreck, discussed ideas for a new, radical film school.
