I guess the reason I stress what I stress is because, if you've ever been in this situation with a friend who's considering an abortion, you start to see the impact that not judging or scaring the woman is the most important thing. I could have told her she was going to hell for killing a child. But instead, I chose to help her see that life was gift, although it was given through unfortunate circumstance. I told her God wasn't done with her life. It would be difficult, but that God would help her through it all if He put her faith in her. Happy to say, she gave birth last week.
Also, these groups are exactly the reason I walked away from the church in my younger years. Now I see the error of my ways, and I'm back in church. Almost all people know the Westboro Baptist Church is not truly Christian, let alone Baptist. But still there was much ignorance I grew up around (for example, one church I went to openly wished that gay people would die). But thankful I've found a good church where the Gospel is preached, and ignorance is not passed for logical discussion.
I think Dr. Wheeler put it this way. Perhaps it was someone else but he said "Love without laws is liberalism. Laws without love is legalism." This is the main philosophy that guides my life.
So BYD, I can agree to disagree with you, I just thought it was worth explaining my reactions to these sorts of groups.
"I expect this kind of baseless response out of our two resident blowhards [Jbock13] who often post for the sole purpose of being contrarian (sic) and stirring up arguments just to feel better about themselves. Don't be like them." - NAJ
