Yes...some of the rules may seem Image but obeying those rules are part of what makes a disciplined life-style...which will carry over in all aspects of life. Does it hurt anyone if your hair is a little long, if your jeans or other clothes are out of dress code...nope...but if we are to be disciplined in our walk with God...then we need to exercise discipline in our relationship with man...
...as Jesus said...render under to Caesar what is Caesars...render unto God what is God.
(I also believe He talks about submitting to the earthly authorities).

And...since I am on a roll...there can certainly be a parallel with the "End Times" and the degenration of man into lawlessness. Think about it...2000 years ago, God already knew how mankind would change.

I wore shorts there one time, ONE TIME, and got caught! My freshman year, after I went to a football game and it was 90 some degrees!

Manson, you probably remember the "Hair Nazi" -- this guy was reknown for walking up and down the dining hall looking for people out of hair code. Everyone knew who he was but nobody knew him, hence becoming the "hair nazi"

Law students are now allowed to drink and smoke, just not on campus or school-related things.

Wait til the undergrad body gets a hold of this.

If I woke up one morning and realized that I was spending this much time, energy and money on becoming a lawyer, I think I would at least start smoking and drinking.

I am still stuck on this whole authority part of RA's. I was approached atleast 5 times where I told the RA that I wasn't going to give them my ID, and that I wasn't going to take their crap because they were having a bad day.....

I agree 100%....law students in general are known to drink more than undergrads

Oh, boy, is that murky.
All members of the law school community, whether on or off-campus, must adhere to local, state
and federal laws concerning alcohol and drug use and are expected to conduct themselves at all
times in a manner consistent with the Christian character and reputation of Liberty University.
Liberty University will not tolerate conduct by any member of the law school community,
whether on or off-campus, that reflects negatively on the public image of the law school or the
University.
It makes a point of not saying that alcohol isn't permitted but it states that students conduct themselves in a "manner consistent with the ... reputation of Liberty University." Liberty University, of course, has a reputation of being a teetotaling institution.

Hmm, we might need a lawyer to parse this out for us. Oh, wait....

It should also be noted here that the Law School is, by definition, a separate entity from Liberty University.

I agree, it's part of the extended family, but still part of the family.

I remember this guy. He always approached my friend who's hair was too long. Always in the dining hall also.

No offense, HMO, but it's completely irrelevant what flies with you or anybody else here. The Law School is a completely separate entity as a condition of its charter. The Bar Association will not recognize any law school that is not autonomous. The Law School is not just another graduate program from LU. The Law School is a completely different school that is based at Liberty University but it is not a part of Liberty University.

I'm not necessarily defending the policy but I fail to see why exactly it would be changed at this point. A.) it's lasted this long; B). it had to get past some governing board to get on the books in the first place and I would imagine that that board would have some passing knowledge of LU and its policies; C). alcohol consumption is not the massive taboo in Christian circles that it once was; and D). grad students tend to be a little more responsible and/or circumspect about the law and the consequences of their actions than undergrads are.

I can imagine that someone who's been in this environment for much of their life would expect a backlash but, honestly, I just don't see it.
