I went to a community college for a year before going to Coastal. I didn't go to CVCC, so I'm speaking in general with everything I say. The classes will be between high school level and college level. That's one reason community colleges are also called "junior college." I don't know if you're just graduating from high school or what, so if you aren't, disregard this next spot. Community college is a great way to transition from high school to college. It also gives you a chance to figure out what you really like so that you don't spend a ton of money changing majors at a university. It'll feel a lot like high school from a social perspective because a large majority of the people there went to high school together and still live at home, etc. Had the community college I went to been closer (it was a 35 minute drive each way), I likely would've stayed there the full two years. My sister actually moved to Wilmington and is going to their community college for two years before she goes to UNCW.
I don't know how much of what I wrote applies to you and how much doesn't, but to sum it up, I'll say this: community college is a great way to take the classes you need for a lot less money in a less intense setting than a university. I'd honestly recommend it to anyone that asked.
