4 of the 8 coaches left have at least 1 National Championship:
Pitino - 1
Coach K - 4
Boeheim - 1
Donovan - 2

Interesting LU Connections with the remaining 4 coaches:

Gregg Marshall - Former Liberty Head coach Jeff Meyer worked as his assistant for 3 years
Thad Matta - Meyer worked as his assistant at Butler
John Beilein - Meyer works as his top assistant now
Buzz Williams - Current Liberty Head coach Dale Layer is his mentor, friend, etc. Buzz was his assistant and He was Buzz's assistant as well.

Kind of cool. I hope somebody I know is actually in the final 4 next week since I will be there. It would be kinda cool to get access to the teams during practice sessions on Friday!

Another Liberty Head Coach connection...Alford took over New Mexico after Ritchie McKay was let go when Ritchie took the Liberty position. That is great for Alford though. Coaching in Westwood is going to be fun for him but a real challenge to live up to their lofty expectations.

I'm not sold on him at a high profile school like that. He has done well with schools 'under the radar'. Manchester isn't a popular D3 or small school Indiana or the Midwest. He did good a SMSU, a mid major with some success. Sorta bombed at Iowa, which was still hoping for a return to the glory days of Dr Tom Davis. Did a wonderful job at New Mexico, which is easily confused with New Mexico State. Now he is taking a huge leap to a big stage that still pines for Wooden glory days. Add to that a National title and multiple Final Four appearances, and a penchant for turning on their last 3 coaches Harrick, Lavin and Holland you have an interesting mix for Alford and his ego. Sure he is an IU Legend and I wish him success. I'm just glad they never hired him.

It is indeed. UCLA, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, Michigan and a few others have enough history that you have to consider it an honor if they come calling. Salary alone is obvious but you can recruit at UCLA big time. Ben Holland always had great recruiting classes. The PAC 10 is a winnable conference. I don't see the down side.

At like the 13 min mark of the 2nd half neither team had 30 points. It's ugly

I wonder how far down the list Steve Alford was. Makes more sense than Brad Stevens considering one of the major things UCLA wanted was a coach that runs a fun and entertaining style. Not sure when the last time the UCLA AD had watched a Butler game if he thought Brad Stevens fit that billing.

You've obviously NEVER watched a Steve Alford coached team. They're as slow and boring as it gets.

This year New Mexico was 172nd in points and 218th in shooting percentage. Obviously, with Stevens and Alford in the mix, the AD wanted a winner more than a style.

He's a self described, admitted and proud troll. Therefore everything he says comes from his azz

That would be correct. Big 12 and the annual Mountain West NCAA Tournament flameouts don't get my TV viewing. 221st in adjusted tempo? Yuck. FSU plays faster than that. Find it hard to believe people in LA are going to want to pay money to come watch their team struggle to score 60 points a game, good luck filling them seats now, UCLA!
