did i ever say kobe wins regardless of who is on his team? no i didn't. yes kobe needed shaq, but shaq also needed kobe.

o and like i said 46 people in finals history have scored 40 points in one game, so yes that is an acheivement, people hated wilt cause he shot to much, you going to take away his 100 point game just because he was jacking shots from everywhere?

and again 74 times kobe has scored 30+ that puts him 4th all time in playoff history. its ignorant to ignore that, and yet stick to saying guys who are below him, a la shaq are better.

im trying to not look like the biggest kobe supporter here, but you use excuses like kobe jacked to many shots or the magic played horrible, yes you maybe right on both accounts, but give credit where its due, kobe could take 30+ shots in a game, he also had 8 boards and 8 asts, so its not like he was just shooting. and the lakers defense was the reason the magic played horrible, the magic missed shots but a lot of the times it was because of good defense.

gosh stop hating on a guy because you simply don't like him off the court or you don't like the way he plays. a lot of people didn't and still don't like jordan cause he got away with cheap stuff, guess what though they still admit he was the greatest to play, so give credit where its due

o btw 40/8/8 has only been done 4 times in the finals, some guys named west, jordan and shaq are the other 3 who did it. but you are right he was selfish and did not have a amazing game, it was just average.

lets just say when he does have an amazing game according to you he will have scored like 120 pts 30 boards and 40 asts

Kobe is a great player who had an average Kobe game... but whatever, you are the board's resident SASmith, and Kobe could have fouled out in the first and it would have been his best game to you... so, I am going to take FFG's word for it, since he is not a Magic fan nor is he a Kobe fan. Kobe didn't have an awesome game, he is just a great player who is expected to do what he did. Shoot 45ish%, get a few dimes and boards, and make everyone think he's the greatest with his intense face.

even if i wasn't a kobe fan he had a great game, but you obviously don't like him for whatever reason or whatever.

i mean if any other player had the same stats as kobe last night everyone would be praising him for it and saying how great he played and everything, like i have said many times before

46 people in NBA FINALS HISTORY have scored 40 points,

kobe has scored 30+ in 74 PLAYOFF games

40/8/8 has only been done 4 times ever in the FINALS!!

but you are right this was just another average game for Kobe, if this was an average game for Kobe then how is he not the greatest of all time? if someone can be average doing this then you got to give him the best of all time right?

I nominate Th3rd for the Stephen a. Smith award.

Dude face it. He's not the greatest. He's not going to ever be the greatest. He's doing what he's expected to do. He's had teams around him that Lebron hasn't. He's had big men that Lebron hasn't. and yet lebron does just as much as not more with less than kobe does with more. This is a team game. Remember that.

LeBron plays for himself and to pack the stat sheets. Kobe plays for his team and the wins. LeBron trys to get a triple double every game, he's a stat sheet player

he had an average kobe regular season game, except the difference is he actually did it in the finals....

but this is only one game and i think its a wake up call the magic needed and they will make this a series worth watching....at least that is what I keep telling myself...if game 2 is anything like last night i don't know what I do....I should be use to this by now.,...after all Nick Anderson broke my heart in game 1 of the finals 14 years ago, why should the Magic do anything different to me now?? haha

wow thats dumb....kobe's team is so much more talented than lebron's...and when has kobe won a championship since shaq left?? hmmmm

...lebron ran out of gas against the magic...that combined with the magic playing very solid basketball ended things for the cavs

I get sick of hearing about lebron as much as anybody...but lebron is sometimes TOO team oriented....

That's dumb. LeBron tries to get other guys involved. If he had people that could knock down shots, he would've had double digit assists every game. LeBron is at his best when other guys are knocking down shots. Kobe just has guys who can knock those shots down.

I know he gets other people involved, thats for the assists column of the stat sheet. I know its stupid but watching him play always looks like hes going for the stats. When a rebound comes anywhere near him, even if a teammate could have gotten it easier, they let LeBron get it so he gets his stats up. He is great, I just think Kobe doesn't worry about anything like that. Kobe keeps shooting if he's on or if no one is stepping up, but sometimes the Cavs are up by 20 and LeBron is still in the game. LeBron should sit down and let the unexperienced players get some experience. Another thing about LeBron I don't like which is probably the main thing I don't like about him is that he's a crybaby. He whines after every time he drives if the refs don't call a foul. If you go in driving like that you should expect to get hit and not always want the refs to help you out. Plus the dude walks off the court and his past game wasn't the first time he has done it. LeBron is my second favorite player in the league, but I would take Kobe over him anyday as of yet.

is game 2 a replay from the 1930s with this low scoring first quarter?

This is the Rashard Lewis that I was hoping to see... shame he didn't come with any other good players. He has the matchup advantage no matter who is covering him, he needs to take over.

Helps when most of your shots are wide open...

Exactly, matchup advantage. Your boy Odom can't keep up.

magic, especially Gortat, having a hard time covering Lamar Odom. I thought Gortat was supposed to be just as good as him?

Gortat did just fine on offense against Odom, and Odoms horrible D on Rashard in the 2nd Quarter makes you dumb for trying to make it seem like he's been worth his weight this game.

1-4 from the field and 2-4 from FTs is just fine in your book? That's some mighty low standards there. What's Rashard done in the second half? one made shot, that's it.

Sorry that 18 in the 2nd wasn't enough for ya.

And Gortat did fine. He was mugged on one of those misses, Odom had him by the arm and body.

And Odom is hitting open shots. Woohoo? So can Big Z. He isn't "All-World" like you think Odom is.

Hmm, since when were at least three shots in the paint with two defenders around you open shots? Wow man, just wow...
