Wow...phantom travel??? It was a very late whistle....the travel was when he caught the ball on the sidelines, not when he was driving to the basket. The lead waited for the trail to make the call from his area. That's why the whistle was late. Notice, the official put the ball in play on the sideline, where the travel occurred....not underneath the basket, where everyone thought the call was made.

Am I the only one who thinks that the NCAA should be sued by us over copyright infringement? I mean, the Final Four logo has a basic replica of the back end of our flames logo.

Congrats to the Spartans on the win tonight. As sick as I am of Big Ten homers I will give them credit for playing very good basketball this year and especially right now

Anyone have any clue who the refs are for tonight's championship game? The calling the other night made me almost not want to watch

I have a question about Ref's....Karl Hess did the UNC F4 game...all he does is ACC games during the year...why wouldnt they have given him the St/Uconn game? Wouldnt you want someone that isnt all that familiar or had much of a past to ref the game?

Les Jones did the MSU/UCONN game & he is an ACC official.

What the NCAA does is take the top 10 officials for the Final Four....3 do one semi.....3 do the other semi......& 3 do the championship.......all games have one alternate official.

All coaches want (fans should as well for that matter) is to call the same thing on each end. What you let go on one end, you should let go on the other end & vice versa. You, as a fan, don't compare it to the last game you saw because crews are going to call things differently. If its a close play & they call a blocking foul....then look for a similar play at the other end to be called a blocking foul.

I have zero interest in watching the game as I have resigned to the fact that UNC is going to win by 20 tonight.

I just don't see it being close. I couldn't name 3 players from MSU. I had a hard time coming up with one...UNC has waay to much firepower for anyone to stop at this point. I'd like nothing more to watch TH go out a loser, don't think it's going to happen.

Because the frickin' media is building it up as "MSU is playing for all the blue collar workers........the unemployment.......the demise of a city"......blah, blah, blah......they are making it a modern day "cinderella man"...just basketball instead of boxing.

This just in......Michigan Not the Only State in Economic Crisis. It's just stupid that they are setting Carolina up like that. So, if the Heels win, they are the "big man trying to keep the working man down". It's just asinine.

Really? I think it is a fairly plausible storyline in light of everything happening on economic fonts.

"What about next week? When the car breaks down and the money they had is gone from game expenses and they have to max out credit cards for years to keep up, is it still a great thing for Michigan? A bit dramatic for sure, but the premise behind it is solid and it will happen this week.

This will be a money maker for Michigan and it could not come at a better time. Just don't throw the economic rhetoric in with the story on how Michigan benefits with Michigan State playing in the Final Four."

I kinda agree with sly, I have friends who live in Detroit, one being my roommate from last year, and he says he dreads going home because its so bad. Yes the country is in a crisis over all but it is significantly worse in places like Michigan and specifically Detroit.

But play they must, and since they'll play on a court and not on a piece of paper, anything can happen. Michigan State could win. That's true. But don't think for a second that a Michigan State victory will warm the body of the thousands of homeless in Detroit, or feed anyone's hunger, or truly comfort anyone wondering how they will pay next week's bills. This is a game, and that's an insult to true suffering.

If the situation was reversed....and it was Carolina playing for the "hopes of a state"........I'd still say it is asinine.

I'm not saying that its going to make everyone's problems disappear. What i'm trying to convey is that it is a distraction. a time where the people of michigan can forget about their problems for a few hours watching a team from their home state compete for a title. Similar to what baseball did when they continued playing games after 911. They knew it was something the country needed. just my 2 cents. I don't have a dog in this fight.

I think the media has a habit of beating story lines into the ground, but I don't see that with today's MSU because:

1) I think you have slightly less people playing up the 'Hansbrough greatest college player ever' card
2) MSU in Detroit which has been destroyed by the economy IS a legit story line
3) They haven't had a week of wall-to-wall coverage of it (unlike some events, such as the Super Bowl Bye Week).

Now if MSU wins and Disney releases "Miracle in Motown", starring Mickey Rourke as Tom Izzo, Rob Brown (the kid from 'Finding Forrester') as Kalin Lucas, with Dennis Hopper playing an MSU booster who got laid off from his job at Chrysler and is slowly drinking himself to death... then we can start talking about over-exposure.
