Sly Fox wrote:Sly, as KD has pointed out here, we have fresh memories of the Conley ordeal, and we can empathize with what the Flames faithful are feeling tonight. It was devastating and we got more press about his departure it seemed, than his scoring record. I have no idea what kind of career Seth Curry thinks he might have ahead, but most of us knew that Jason Conley made a big mistake.
When a well esteemed member of our board (who shall remain nameless unless he cares to reveal himself) first approached me about this while I was in Lynchburg over a week ago, my initial thought was the case of Jason Conley. Mo can attest to how he had a similar impact at VMI leading the nation in scoring before feeling the need to transfer to a major conference in order to make the jump to the Association. Instead he became muddled in a Mizzou lineup and never really had the opportunity to shine. While I am sure none of the Currys foresee a similar fate for Seth it certainly is a distinct possibility and quite a gamble. Sometimes being at a mid-major where you can be the featured scorer gives you a distinct advantage over having to share the load at a major.

Could it be that the loss of a self-focused star would be your program's gain? That's exactly what I mentioned to people earlier. I used that example when talking to people at Liberty.
I hope so.

Could it be that the loss of a self-focused star would be your program's gain?Such was mentioned in an earlier post regarding a former player at LU years back, as well. I tend to lean that way in my thinking.
I hope so.

rueful wrote:Im not saying he will. Im just saying it would be awesome. But like flamesfilmguy said, i think if Sanders ever got drafted, we would all be too excited about that fact to remember a guy named curry.well said. I don't think people appreciate a legacy as much as they used to.
Which is one of the things curry should remember 5 years from now. He could have stayed here and had a huge fan base and been remembered. If he kept raining down the points like he did this year we all would have loved him, his jersey would probably get retired, hed be a legend on this campus. But instead, hell go be the little fish in a big pond so he can get to the NBA, and when he graduates college, hell have his senior night, and then the next year be replaced with the next player and soon forgotten.
He wants a Legacy? He could have had that here. His brother has that at Davidson. He wont have that at in any of the big, better conferences

It would be a bad deal if Seth walked around campus and felt like he was hated on. It's a small campus and I assume he's not dropping out of class. If yall see him you really need to be cordial and do your best to act like hes gonna be there next year. I'd hate for him to think christians are only happy and praising God when things are perfect, but at heart are like everyone else when they are hurt.Well if the whole NBA thing doesnt work out, someone give him Kevin Roose's number and we can get the sequel
This is the time to be what you are supposed to be.
Good luck!
