I would be inclined to agree with you if Butler had a time out. As it was, the way things played out for Butler was almost a best case scenario, with the player they wanted to take the final shot getting the rebound cleanly. Even so, all he got was a hail Mary. If they make the FT, Butler has an opportunity to inbound to someone closer to the front court and still have 3 seconds to either dribble drive or make another pass and get a more makeable shot. It was a bit of a crap shoot of course because of the possibility of losing in regulation, but if I'm K I'm saying "if they can make that kind of shot at the buzzer, they deserve to win."
I would also add that K has some direct knowledge about what it is possible to do on a length of the court inbounds play with even less than 3 seconds left.
