WU lost their legs and lost to a bad Baylor team, couldn't hit a shot in the last few minutes.

CCU lost to Wright st. by 30

CSU loses to Auburn by 30

HPU wins 93-23 over the Warren Wilson running tokers.
I was watching the WU/Baylor game, they didn't look good down the stretch... but still a good 2nd place finish for you guys

93-23???? they shouldn't even be playing that team

It looks like Baylor slowed down Gaynor/Jenkins, but Taj McCullough had another big game.

Baylor did turn it up defensively in the second half, but also Gaynor and Jenkins had nothing in the tank at the end of that game because of our limited backcourt depth right now. Both of them had some open looks, but they just didn't fall. Combine that with Baylor stepping up and making the plays when it counted and we were done. I can't complain about our overall performance though. I didn't think we were going to make it to that championship game as I was expecting a 4th or 5th place finish.

We really need to use the rest of the non-conference time developing Burton, Faison, and Vil. Taj has looked pretty good so far this year. If Charles Corbin continues to develop, he and Taj will make a very good post tandem for us by conference play.

Yea, you knew what you were getting with Gaynor and Jenkins, but Taj has to be a pleasant surprise for WU fans. He really seems to be holding his own against some quality competition.

The upcoming Missouri State game may serve as a good metric in evaluating this year's team versus last year's.

Talent wise Winthrop can't play with the big boys like Baylor.

I don't think Taj has been a surprise this year. He showed last year that he was capable of playing like he has with some very good games down the stretch. A lot of us WU fans expected Taj to have a bigger year last year, but instead it was Jenkins that stepped it up.

Haha, talent-wise?

Our only problem right now is depth at the guard spot, the game last night came down to who was more worn out, and Baylor has more depth in the back court. We owned the post against them, and Taj was the best athlete on the court.

We beat Georgia Tech, our talent can compete and beat anyone.

I would go on record as saying Baylor has more talent than GT right now. Scott Drew is doing a bang up job recruiting for the Bears.

After watching both teams play I'd say no way. In fact, most Baylor fans think he's a bad coach.

I think that it's a pretty safe assumption to say that Sly knows his stuff when it comes to sports in the greater Houston area and beyond.

Scott Drew is in fact highly respected in Waco for his efforts in reviving a program that will be on probation until 2010 and is in its first season of full scholarship play since the "Bliss Scandal" that occurred prior to Drew's arrival.

Without question, he's done a tremendous job at Baylor.

UNCA moves to 5-0, beating Western Carolina on the road, 83-73. The Bulldogs haven't had the toughest schedule so far, but it is impressive that they haven't slipped up yet, and they have managed to win 2 true road games as well (which generally in the Big South, road wins are very scarce during the non-conference season).

Just because someone covers sports doesn't make them an expert. In fact, it's usually the opposite. I watched both teams and talent wise GT is better, easily in the post, probably near even on the perimeter.

Eh... Georgia Tech lost at home by 10 to lowly UNC-Greensboro.

Baylor is 4-0 with wins, ironically enough, over Greg Marshall's Witicha State and Notre Dame.

At the moment, Baylor is the better team.

Greensboro is pretty good. They have the best player in the socon in Kyle Hines.

First UNC-G and now Winthrop? Who isn't beating GT this season?

I kid, I kid. Congrats to WU. Nice win.
GT's starting PG (Maurice Miller) didn't even dress with a bad ankle and his backup (Matt Causey) played under 10 minutes due to a bum knee. GT started a backup SF (D'Andre Bell) at PG. GT's top 2 centers (Zack Peacock and Ra'Sean Dickey) are both out currently as well. To say we're banged up is an understatement :(

Still a good win for Winthrop, but GT is just decimated by injuries right now.

As long as he can keep his assistant coaches from relieving themselves on the Waco bars, then they'll be well on there way. :urinal

UNC-G is hardly lowly this year. All indications are that they should have a great season.

Realist ... I know you Southerners believe basketball doesn't exist west of the Mississippi but Baylor is a Big XII program rising out of the ashes of the Dennehy tragedy. Drew has brought in more talent than they've seen in Waco in along time. Jerrells is a serious baller and they have a bunch of freshmen who come in highly regarded.

Baylor lost at home in an exhibition to D2 Tarelton State earlier this year. They are getting better, but they still have a ways to go. Drew is at least bringing in talent to Waco now though.

Wow, Winthrop goes up by 22 early on Missouri State and ends up getting dominated in the second half at home, losing by 4.

Winthrop had a dominating road win against this opponent in last year's bracket buster, which was televised live on ESPN-2.

Last year's Winthrop team comes away with an easy home win in this one. What a difference a year makes.

Different result dox, but really tough to know how much of that is due to a decline by Winthrop or whether Missouri State may have improved.

I :clapping your restraint in not falling back on your usual :bowdown to the "holy trinity" of Marshall, Bradshaw and Martin and that Winthrop will never be the same without them. They are not going to repeat what they acheived last year, but IMHO they are still the team to beat (THIS YEAR) in the BSC.

Mantoris Robinson and Charles Corbin are at least a full level below what WU had in Martin and Bradshaw.

WU remains a top contender with their exceptional senior backcourt and with Taj underneath, however, HPU ans CCU must be licking thier chops because the conference appears to be wide open this season. Who knows, by the end of the season UNCA, VMI, and even LU may enter into the conversation as legitimate contenders. More than likely, the hottest team down the stretch takes the prize.

How'd I get included here 😳
